Just thought i'd give a heads up, i'm not sure if this is a big problem or even if its been listed here before but is easy and worth checking. I work at a dealership in northern manitoba, and today we had a phazer gt with 280km in to get the coolant bottle changed (had split). I took it for a test drive thought that i'd blown a piece out of the belt....no such luck, there is a motor mount bolt that has the nut directly behind the primary clutch, and the nut and washer came off and went through both clutches, making quite a mess. This afternoon we had a fx come in with 2700km, and the guy wanted the suspension set up, we checked his machine to see if this nut was okay and sure enough it too was sitting in the bottom of the side panel, luckily it bypassed the clutches!!! so we're calling everyone who purchased one from us to either bring it in or check themselves, hopefully if it is a problem it can be caught before more damage is done and guys are waiting for parts!!!

this is a great forum and i just wanted to contibute something hopefully useful!!

Happened to me in december too. Changing the oil I found the boltside of that motormount bolt sticking into the area by the oil filter. found the nut in the pan below the belt. The spacer between the mount and "sideplate" had backed itself out. Had to loosen the sideplate to thread the spacer back in till all came together even. Loctighted EVERYTHING!!! Then loctighted the a-arm spindle nuts, and tierod nuts. This sled shakes nut's loose. Pic's can be seen under "oilchange" back in december. I bet there all loose. Or will come loose. Still lov the sled 950 miles so far, not much snow here untill the other day

no problem...when it comes down to it, the more informed owners are the happier they're going to be and the less work for us! I've gotten alot of good info from this site and just wanted to pass it on... as a side note the fx with 2700km had a couple of other problems, the link between the rear shock and the from torque arm was broken, the lower a-arm ball joints attaching to the spindle are both loose, and the piggy back shocks on the a-arms were both leaking from the top clickers, I don't know if this is as big of a problem, may just be this one, i think it may have seen a fair bit of air time!!

Here in scandinavia there was a servicebulletin out on this issue back in november.

Sounds like their lock tight guy aughta be fired heh. What with the front suspension backing out and now possible issues with this.

Thanks for the heads up.

I looked at mine last night, I assume you talking about the nut that the front of the sled, its greenish?

It was loose, but not to the touch, I put a 14mm wrench on it and it tightened 1/4 turn with average strength.

Its a 19mm nut on the upper ball joint(on the upper A-Arm)
originally mine was silver, but the replacement was Green almost like its off of a quad or something.

steve, i work at northland leisure...did you have a blue rx-1 back in 03?

motor mount bolt

mine has fallen off twice now i guess the dealer didn,t put lock tight on it after the first time it fell off

Are we talking about the same thing? I knew the A-arm issue, thought this was inside the cover, behind the primary clutch?

oh my apoligies I was reading another reference... mine is still tight behind the secondard... not going anywhere till the new lower a arm comes in... ;)

motorman25..........Thanks for the "heads up." Is this the nut you are referring to?
