I was taking off my stub shaft to try and get rid of the rattle at idle and I noticed that either the clip or the journal bearing was sticking out about 1/8 of an inch on one of the halves. I'm not sure if this normal. Any help would be appreciated.

This is the journal bearing that popped out. Apparently this can be caused by low oil pressure. I have never had this sled on its side and when i change the oil I leave some in the crank. How is this possible, I thought that these Yamaha's were bullet proof?

Did you buy the sled new? It can happen anytime you have an oil leak or run low on oil. As soon as oil pressure drops the damage is done. Just a matter of time until the motor goes. Happened to a friend of mine. Seal from the old filter stuck to block when changing oil. While driving the seal blew out and pumped out all the oil. Motor still ran but about 200 miles later the rod bearing went and destroyed the motor.

No leak of any kind, filter was put on properly, no holes in it, sled never on its side.
