I still haven't torn into mine yet, but without quoting here, I read that a few of you say that they move back and forth. Has anybody torn one of these down yet to investigate what is actually bending?? I've looked my sled over pretty good without tearing it apart, and can't find anything that appears bent? Anybody??
I have a sneaking feeling that if I tear into the front of my sled, I'll end up with the welder and tubing bender out.... I think it will get expensive

Last weekend I took a trip to the dealer for some warranty work on the Apex. They had three subframes out back that were bent. From what I could tell, and it's somewhat difficult as there isn't a straight line reference and I didn't bring my pocket CMM machine. It looks like the larger tubing that loops from the bottom up is what bends. It appears that everything in front of the belly pan twists to one side or the other. You would want to tie the area underneath the bellypan to the front section in a cross hatch pattern. I think just crossing the exposed area would help but since that area seems to twist as a whole I don't think it would work the best. Regardless I would wait until the 09's start arriving and someone If not me will post pictures of what has changed. I think that may be the easiest and most effective. Then you could always add more if need be.

Bent subframe at lower A-arm mount, covered by warranty, all universal joints in steering system replace due to excessive play, covered by warranty, and both clutch sheaves replaced due to grooving by belt. 3256 miles when taken in for work to be done, no questions asked, just took along time and alot of phone calls. In late January I bent my front end but it was because I cart wheeled my sled at high speed. I couldn't find anything bent in my subframe but the top, throttle side a-arm was tweaked to the point the shock spring was almost touching. The spindle was also more vertical than normal. I used a pry bar and tweaked everything back into place. The throttle side a-arms tended to creep backwards a few times throughout the rest of the season but was never severe. Using a pry bar, level and magnetic angle gauge I was always able to tweak everything back into place.
I'm not too thrilled about my front end movement but thinking back in history, I can remember my old Polaris Indy trailing arms bowing out from hard riding or a wreck and just fixing them using the garage floor and my feet. The beauty of the IFS was that you could simply remove the trailing arms, set them on the floor and jump up and down until they became flat (straight). While a primitive fix, it never seemed to hurt anything and saved money to boot!

had a hit and bend the right side.subframe and a arms on insurance.the problem is ,the left shock is not centered in the a arm,i cant see any bends on the a arms,what is going on?
120 miles right ski 3" back
1st MTX (wifes she only weighs 105lb's) @ 120 miles noticed Right ski pushed back and both shocks out of center with a-arms have no idea how or when it happened. Called Yamaha made report.
2nd Mtx( mine, 170 lbs) 300 miles looks fine

The ball joints were blown right out on both sides and the right side was tweaked to the point that the shock was almost touching the A-arm. Looks like right side bending on the right side is most common. Anyone know if the 09's will have all the updates done?

After 1100 miles: Right spindle is more upright than the left. Right ski is 1 to 1.5 inches back compared to the left. Bushings on the a-arms are totally crapped out. Took it to the dealer in April and was told that they would replace all the bushings under warranty if I wanted, but it would be the same parts that wore out. They suggested that I wait until late summer when they were told that Yamaha would have updated parts available.

mine must be one of the few that hasn't bent and I even hit a couple things out in dubois wy under the snow that I thought for sure would have bent it. I am done worrying about it, traded the sled off for something that will be a better sled for my type of riding, an assault. I am going to miss a couple things about the nytro cause yami is on the right track with it. The wet foot, small tank, and incredibly cold ride even with a bigger windscreen along with the weak front end stories made it a fairly easy decision to trade after riding my friends new 800 rmk.

My 2008 Nytro is in the shop right now, LH front end is bent a little bit, ball joints are toast. Dealer says fix should be in sometime in August, according to the Yamaha rep. Told him to keep the sled until it is fixed. I've owned nothing but Yamaha for 20 years, they had better take care of me on this one. Wig

Mine will be going in soon also. Left hand is bent. Spring almost touches upper a-arm, ball joints are sloppy, 550 miles................Brian

Short track Nytro and my arms feel like they were going to fall off after the last few rides because Ball joints were shot and back ordered.
Some guys have been lubing them up every ride on mountain sleds and still seem good.
Bent sub frame?? Just notice it when sitting on truck deck!
reps from Yamaha USA at West Yellow stone show me how to check and said they were working on it.
Canada will warranty the ball joints but doesn't souind good for frame?
Looks like short track with wide front end is more likely to bend frame.
Hardest thing I had hit was mogels on trail. Very bad back so i don't pound on my sled!

Well I checked mine last night...in feb the left ski was 2inches behind the right....now the right is 3 inches behind the left...I didnt even notice. I have never hit anything other that deep POW and trail moguls.....Anyone now where to look to see where its bent?
