nytro spindle breaking

broke mine too

yamaha refused to cover mine.. even though the dealer has the right to fix anything under warranty up to 750 without calling yamaha.. sounds like more great customer service from the dealer.

ya the dealer siad yamaha should have coverd mine and he said he would help me out on parts and then he gave me a deal on a new one

Need to replace the right and left, the right side cracked on the ski mounting bolt after my ski gauged into a culvert, traveling very slow maybe 2km/h and the other side was sheared off when sidehilling this weekend coming into contact with a rock. Not fun bringing it down from the mountain that day!
If they would have been re enforced it would have taken out my subframe so you halfto think what is cheaper, a spindle or subframe??
Dont matter, Timbersled on order!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :die

Just got my nytro early winter and bust the spindle second ride out. Nice. Dealer replaced spindle and I straightened my bottom A-arm and steering rod. Still not aligned quite right but it works.

nailed a stone, not that big and didn't throw me. Figured I was good to go until I took a look at the skis and one was sitting at a funny angle. Limped her home and was motoring three weeks later. Good times. Otherwise pretty happy with it. The suspension suggestions from here were a great help.

It's good you didn't roll it. This spindle thing has me freaked out.

Maybe those splitrail ski's w/the different spindle maybe the answer......

I tapped a tree with the side of my ski and 1500 miles later it ovalled out the hole and pulled the washe through.

I just noticed mine was bent today. I do not even remember hitting anything. Mine looks like I hit something on the outside edge of the ski bending the spindle in.

nope i fixed it out of pocket yamaha said i hit something and it was my own fault

You may have taken the wrong approach with this. Just because they refuse the warranty does not mean that you aren't ENTITLED to it. Specifically, this is what the courts are for.

Your worst case:

Their claim is that they are refusing the warranty because you HIT something... well in this case, even if you were suing them, the onus of proof is on THEM, because THEY denied the claim and gave the reason. Therefore THEY have to demonstrate that you did, in fact, hit something. There would have to be evidence of impact on the ski or the spindle in order for that spindle to fall apart like that.

Your possible better solution:

You phone them up, tell them they're full of s***, that the thing fell apart and very nearly killed you, and that you will be taking this to the media and the courts if they don't comply. Unless they can EASILY prove it to the court and the media (these are not engineers, remember) that you did, in fact, crash it (causing the ski to fall off), then they will most likely settle on covering it (but probably get you to sign an NDA so that you don't go back on it nearly killing you). Remember that your DEALER is also on your side (based on your statements). Yamaha knows that your dealer won't lie to the courts on their behalf, and your dealer, who was the first to examine the damaged machine, is, by definition, an expert witness against them.

A *lot* of organizations use this approach to reduce warranty costs. They say no and expect most people to just go away. IF YOU PUSH, THEY DO RELENT!

Now all is not lost. Presumably, you still have all the damaged parts, including the spindle, right? This should be enough still to put the pressure on them. You could also potentially go after them for punitive damages... after all, you could have died.

they told my the bolt in the ski was bent so the said there was sign of impact i still have the spindles but the skis and sled is long gone

My spindle snapped yesterday at the lower ball joint........... lucky for me i was only going 60mph!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! was in a wide ditch no rocks no nothing but snow. Sled went end over end and somehow i walk away with a bruise on my elbow.........

Never hit anything no evidence of any damage other than the spindle being in 2 piece and the damage from the crash.

Will Yamaha cover this or am i on my own?

No warranty left its an 08.

I will try and upload some pics
