Your spot on Grimm. Brought her to the dealer, All ok with her. Ice was building up on the lower rad so no snow could cool her down. They say the yellow light is a warning and not to worry about it. They suggested the MTX cooler kit and I ordered it, will be here wednesday and ill bring my sled back to them to get it install. Top rad is getting a lot of air and top gauge pod is replaced with the Roest vent kit.

Im hoping this is my problem as well. I ran from Barnseville to Adairs lodge (80miles) Wednesday. It was -25 and the trail conditions were perfect and freshly groomed. I even spent some time playing off trail in the powder. In that 80 miles i had my temp light come on at least 15 times. I have had my light come on in the past but never that often. I did notice that i seemed to have a lot more ice build up under my sled.
I had hit a rock on the Previous Sunday and took a chunk out of my cooler causing a slight leak. I fixed the leak and decided to add a bit of extra protection so i added a piece of 1\8 aluminium sheeting under my Yamaha skid plate. I left it stick out about 1/2 an inch past my cooler. Im pretty sure this is acting as a barrier and keeping the ice from sliding off my cooler intern causing a build up and not letting the snow properly cool. Im going to remove the 1/2 overhang tonight and try that.. Fingers crossed.

good to know im not the only one in the same boat. Was worried that it could have been head gasket but relieved its not. We do hang out around Aderes and Caledonia mountain at time. Might see you in the trails.

I was really worried that i may have had a bad bearing in the engine making it heat up. Hard to tell over that dreaded clutch rattle... I venture up to the south eastern club and caledonia from time to time. Good riding up there. Im sure we will cross paths at some point.

I have had the same deal going on with my 08 RTX. I have installed the MTX tunel cooler, changed the thermostat(pulled the new thermostat and tested it in boiling water), rebuilt the waterpump, checked for blockages in the heat exchangers, rode with the hood off, the fan works, and and in about 2-3 miles the light is on and it's a gurgling and blowing. I don't have oily residue in the overflow tank like a blown head gasket. I'm on the 2 week wait list at the ARTIC CAT-yamaha dealer. One sugestion they had was that the temperature sensor does not only telling us it is hot but also play's a roll in timing and fuel mixture, that may be the problem. I have a new sensor ordered while I wait because there shelves are so full of what it takes to keep the cats going there is no room for Yamaha stuff.
Did you ever get this figured out? I'm having the same issue right now.
