I've had an 02 Viper & 04 Viper S and I'm ready to move up to the 4stroke world. Most of my riding is in the tight twisties and open fields of western New York and Northern PA. Of course it gets bumpy most of the time but mostly its the stutters that kill me. Coming from a Viper with very poor suspension anything will be better. I'm trying to keep up with my buddies who ride skidoo xp 800's. Will the Apex with more horsepower but not as good of suspension be better or the Nytro that is the opposite. Thanks for your help guys!!! :yam:

I ride a Vector after selling a nytro. My buddy rides a 2010 doo 800. He can't pull me anywhere but at the top end on the lake and that's only about 2 mph. Oh, and by the way, he's always first to the gas pump. I'm on the side of the Apex over the nytro. Better comfort for all day riding. The mono shock is a great suspension for soaking up the bumps, especially if you get a LTX model. Don't count out a Vector though for trail riding. It's got a lower center of gravity than the Apex from the lack of gear reduction, better gas mileage and if I'm not mistaken, more torque than the Apex. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me.

You are right. Every dyno sheet I have ever seen has shown the three- holer making a bunch more torque, and making it down low where you use it trail riding.

Thanks for the input. I test rode an 08 Apex LTX GT and loved it over the Nytro in that year. My buddies like to push hard over the bumps and all it does is wear me out. When they are still going strong after 200 miles, I'm lagging behind. I was leaning toward the Nytro because of this.

I don't hit topend very often, just on a big field or railroad grade. I need a good all-around sled that is comfortable for all day rides. Keep the suggestions coming!!!

For rough trail riding its the Nytro,For groomed trail riding its the Apex. Apex is faster the Nytro is quicker!

Just get an Attak or Apex LTX, replace the skid with the XTX's 144, throw a 1 1/2" track on in and top it off with a Powder Lite Stage 1 ( 300 HP ) turbo.

You can do all of this for the same or less than a new Apex XTX!

I vote apex. my nytro wears me out in the woods, its a beast to drive really fast in the tight and twisties IMO. And the mono suspension is so smooth in the smaller bumps.

Also should consider you'll only get 100 miles on a tank with the nytro's small gas tank so you'll be looking for gas with the rest of the 2 strokes.

everyone is hitting it right on the head. apex as I said is comfort/cruiser and to me, although smooth, a pig on the nasties. the nytro, although fatiguing after all day, better on nasties. that is why I went xtx, bridges everything for a smooth ride anyway, also capable of bashing nasties. no more tiring than short track and your back will thank you, keeping you fresh and in control to tuck your buddies flap when he lets off to catch breath

So it seems the apex is the winner in this debate until you get to the real nasty bumps. Maybe the Apex LTX is the way to go. A 2011 is out of the question as far as budget. I'll probably look for a leftover. Most of the trails I ride are small to medium bumps. Sometimes I find some big rollercoasters but I don't want to by a bump sled just for them if you say the rest of the day it's going to wear me out. Thanks for the help!!

Go with the 2010 Vector GT LTX. You will still have the power to keep up with your buddies and the sled will not wear you out as much as the Apex. I had the same problem with the 2008 Apex and switched to the Vector this year and it made a big difference.

Does the Vector really have enough low and mid range power to keep up with the 155 horse Skidoo 800?
Thanks for your comment Banks93. Why do you say the vector won't wear you out as much as the Apex?

Are there non current 2010 Apex LTX Gts left out there? Why not 2011 Apex SE? Any Apex will keep up & pass an xp 800r. You will not keep up with xp 800r with Vector just not apples to apples hp sleds. GSX 4tek keeps up with XP 800r but that is 130hp+ 4s. Nytro is more like 140hp 4s. Not sure what hp doo 4tek dynos at but pretty quick seat of pants but Nytro seems faster.
