Nytro vs Apex can't decide

1200 Doo XP..........
Rode a buddies 2010 GSX SE 1200 which is a cushy renegade 1200 and I dont have a sled right now so Im looking real hard at everything. I have to say the sled is OK but it didnt scream buy me for sure. Air shock ride was nice but pushed in the corners (137" x 16") more then my Attak. It for sure didnt feel any lighter and I know its lighter so no argument there. Power was smooth but twichy down low. My point is everybody screams that there all that and I was worried I would go back to Doo and came away unimpressed to be honest.

size

How big a guy are you..height..weight..how strong are you..this will come into play..Most people say mine too heavey..but for me its just a work out..no smell turn the key.etc..take these things into concideration before you buy..and its Apex ..more solid a sed..

I rode with 2 800 Doo's this weekend and granted one was a summit and the other was a brand new backcountry but neither would pull my old 05 Vector on bottom or top end. Yooper1's modified Nytro pretty much beat up on everything but I expected that with every Ulmer mod on it plus the Barker can..The vector motor is also 22 lbs lighter than the Apex mill which also helps with the handling...

This is quite the discussion I started. Everyone's opinion is greatly appreciated. Was riding yesterday with my buddies on their 800 doo's and the bumps where mostly small with some smooth trails. I think by everone's opinions on this thread the Apex or Vector would have ruled the pack. I'm still not sure if the Vector, with better handling, is going to have enough power to keep up. Does anyone have any experience with with a Vector vs. an 800 Doo? Also how much does the longer track affect the handling (121 vs. 136)?

Listen to redrx1rkt and go for the machine who is the most fun.

Me dont like Yellow  Problem and the truth is that new yellow machines sound, smells and feels kind of nice. After a couple of seasons they start to come apart. Maybe I'm wrong, You're CF7 how far have you drive'n it and what kind of problems?

But a half long and a short that is the... I have a short Yammie and a half long Cat. Thinking in short terms again and maybe sell the Yammie for a newer short yammie... maybe. I don't know why Phazer RTX with turbo has not been a hype. Sounds like a cool one to me!

It isn't a matter of keeping up with the doos as it is choosing for comfort. They aren't going to be driving 110 all the time.

Do you want to feel tired after 150 miles from the weight of the Apex or run 300-400miles when you go out on the Vector. I have both 121" and 136" vectors and I think the 121 handles better on trails but the 136 soaks up the bumps better. I went 136".

My buddy has a 2010 Doo 800 and neither of us can get away from each other on the trail. On the lake we are pretty even. Side by side he's pulling a little (103 vs 101 gps) butby no means is he killing me. It would take 4 or 5 miles of flat out running before he might start to lose me but his motor might blow by then! The point is that all your buds might have a small smile on their face coming off the lake but will still ask to ride your vector ltx the rest of the day.

Thanks Banks93. You just reminded me of the main reason I would like to buy a newer sled. I am riding an 04 Viper S and after 150 miles trying to keep up with the Doo's I am whooped. They are still going strong for another 150. Thursday they put on 340 miles and I told my friend with the Doo I was glad I wasn't with them... Can you imagine not wanting to be out riding? That's crazy talk from my mouth, I live for the white stuff on the ground. I think you are right I should be looking at comfort so I can be right there with the Doo's after 300 miles.

Good to know Wertles. Riding the Viper they can lose me on a long straight stretch or open field. It would be nice to stay beside them. It is very rare (maybe once a ride) that we get into the top end and I'm thinking now the Apex's long legs won't be worth the heavier front end and poorer handling.

After saying that ~ 14129.00 out the door for a 2011 Apex XTX Im thinking Nytro.....

and I got one for you......

for tight and twisty trails, NYTRO for sure. I love my apex but it's no where near as good as the nytro or the new RTX. you just won't be that fast on the lake however.

Yes, the HP is nice but lugging it around for 300plus miles all day long is not fun. I think the new power steering might help with that but I would rather just buy the 2010 Vector and save the money. Heck you can buy two vector's and let your buddies ride it for the price of the Apex. When it comes down under 10,000 then maybe I will pick one up. I liked the Apex and still miss the high power but everytime we go 20 plus miles I have a smile on my face because I am still going just as fast and not worn out from the twisty trails.

yamakazie, being from the same general area as you are i will throw in my opinion. for the wny/northern pa area in my opinion...you are wasting time and money on an apex. i am currently in the market for a new sled and have looked at alot them. i have ridden a vector/nytro/apex/1200 and an etec 6. if i was throwing money down today it would go on the vector. (or an f chassis cat...ugly but the ride is great) your 800 buddies ain't gonna be that far ahead if at all. the vector has somewhere around 10 hp more than your viper, but the suspension upgrade alone will help you to keep up. your not down in power right now your down in comfort. you will rarely use the extra hp the apex has, but you will be using the weight every day. i say ride as many different things as dealers will allow for as long as you can and then decide. i loved the nytro i rode, but after riding the vector my friend has i really thought twice of the nytro simply for the long mile days. it was a blast to drive, but i was out of breath more with the nytro and i don't think that riding position is great (i'm sure some do) for really long days. horsepower is great in a long race...but it never made your back feel better.
