my buddie seems to think his new xp800r will beat my nytro in a 1000 foot race. Has anyone ran against an xp800 yet? what was the outcome?

I don't really know, I know the Nytro has alot of low end power. But with 10 more peak horsepower and 100 lbs lighter sled, my money would be on the 800 XP.

I'd have to give it to the XP. The Nytro is not a racer but to 1000 feet it's certainly got the grunt. I raced an 800 gade (rev) and a 600 XP gade last year for about 1000 feet (impromptu) and we were all pretty even.

The 800 gade owner was the lightest rider by a long way. He was probably 65 lbs lighter than me and 45 lbs lighter than the xp600 owner.

I think rider weight plays a huge part.

Allen Ulmer told me that in a 660-800ft the Nytro can take the XP if setup properly. After that the XP's more hp and lighter weight will kickin. But, I have not raced one yet, but I think my pretty setup Apex can hand an XP 800 his #*$&@ on a platter and that's one that is setup with clutching, jetting and gearing changes. I can't wait to run into one. I have read where alot of guys that can beat them.

One word of advice would be this... Make sure you have the better traction. Dump the ripsaw and get a Cobra track. Pick your day of race with him. If he's bone stock, you can beat him...

The xp is quicker in a 1000 I would say most of the time. In 660 its a different story. I also would say a properly setup Nytro will beat a xp, but I tested against a xp all winter and It was back and forth with the xp winning more then losing.

having come from a Rev (I know it is not an XP) my rev would hang with a lighter guy on an Nytro...but I was impressed with its ability to hang with me, as My Rev was NTO stock by any stretch!!

I would be very surprised if a Nytro will beat an XP...

Did this race every weekend last winter. xp in 1000' unless the guy does not know what he,s doing.

Turk is correct. there is a lot of factors including driver weight and track type and lug height. I've seen some Nytro speeds posted on here that if true should have no problem keeping up in that distance , but around here anyways those speeds haven't been found yet.........least I haven't seen them anyways.........

Did that last year at a festival a local club has on a lake 2 days after getting my new Nytro,i asked some guy that was talkin smart with his studded XP if he wouldnt mind putting them next to eachother just to see how i would do, he looked at me stupidly and say" i'll beat ya by a lot"...im thinkin ok put your money where your mouth is, i told him to pick the point, it was about 1000' to this one marker so my buddy who was with that rides cats and was thinkin that i was about to get my butt handed to me headed to the finish line with camera in hand...we had a person wave us off and blew him away for about halfway, when i got to the finish he was at my back bumper... i stopped after and said gave ya a run for your money didnt it, "if it wouldve been the rest of the lake it woulda been a different story" he says... that was it i went back, parked it, and watched people just mosie on over to check it out...i love that feeling

...o yeah :yam: :4STroke:

Way too many variables to even try to bench race this stuff. Just race him to 10,000 miles.....
