So this season is done like dinner so we have to get our sleds ready for the long summer sleep as well as doing any projects over the summer. Post up what you're doing to your sled here.
Me first. Too many times I got surprised come the fall when I didn't do the maintenance and inspection before storing it so I promised myself I would do it this year and basically would have nothing to do come fall.
Maintenance: oil and filter change, chaincase oil change, take skid out and inspect all wheels and components, regrease wheel bearings or replace worn bearings, check steering linkages, regrease or replace the drive/axle bearings, replace front outer tie rods as they have become loose.
Mods or upgrades:
Close off the tunnel. I will likely document it and post up a thread on it. Will be similar to others done here already.
Modify the seat to remove the piece of plastic hurting my butt. I will basically peel off the cover and see what's in there that's causing the pain. Likely just a reinforcement for the raised part of the seat that's not needed. May add some more foam.
Find a suitable gas front skid shock. I currently have a cheap VL oil shock as my original gas shock was destroyed when my skid self destructed a couple years ago.
Find a pair of Phazer adjustable shocks. I am currently using my son's Phazer shocks but he wants them back because the ones he had (HyGear revalved ones) self destructed. He put on my original MP gas shocks temporarily and they suck on his sled.
Replace my aftermarket temp gauge as the display on the CCC (Cheap Chinese Crap) one I used is failing.
Maybe modify my heated grips. They were adequate except that they would take a while to warm up on really cold days and only while going above 7000 RPM.
That's it unless I get some more ideas along the way.

I've been reluctant to respond lately as it would seem like gloating ... I'm riding/fishing daily. Will let you all know when the dirt bike called Walker replaces the MP named Blue. About two days after the sleds come off the ice I start ice fishing off a Kawasaki KLX140.

Well you are up north so it's not your fault, although still envious . I did go to Whitehorse in 2005 on a business trip and had a free day to rent a sled (an Arctic Cat fanner) and ride the trails around there. It was on April 1st. April fools was almost on me as I got stuck several times and of course I was alone. Still beautiful up there. Makes you feel kinda small in those mountains. Not the best riding conditions but the view was breathtaking.

We are into a stretch of above average temperatures. I spent an hour shoveling snow onto the trail down to the lake. The fat lady may be clearing her throat.
Mooseman, it may be an idea to remove the seat and see if you can cut out the nasty bits out from below. Fill the voids with foam from below and skip the re-upholstery job. Whaddayathink?

I've seen the underside of the seat and it's not accessible. I have to remove the cover. My butt has finally recovered from this season.

My tailbone is still sore. I sit a certain way and still painful.I've seen the underside of the seat and it's not accessible. I have to remove the cover. My butt has finally recovered from this season.
I have rusty in my buddies garage for the summer. Going to try and do the ice booger blocking and a few other things.
But of course that will be in between trips to hunt camp to play on 4 wheeler. Going to cabin this Saturday Have to walk 8km from highway to cabin to get red. still too much snow in places along the road to drive to cabin with truck. Will bring red down mountain and haul it home to get it ready for season.

We were able to tow trailer behind my buddies brand new Polaris sportsman 600. Got it almost half way up mountain before we had to leave it there. It was slow going as the snow was about 10 inches deep. With the 3 of us on the Polaris we push on. In some places one guy in machine and 2 pushing we make it to the cabin.
We had to evict the rodents who had moved in ( see previous post ) and sealed holes they chewed through walls to gain entry. I grabbed my key for red ( 2008 yamaha Kodiak 350 ) and cleared mouse nest out of air breather. She fired her right up. Has not been started since 2nd week of Nov.
After spending couple hours at camp we started down mountain to go home.
Without red leading the way would have been a long trip down to the truck.
Red had to tow Polaris and trailer at same time down the mountain.
Tried to put up small movie clip of red pulling Polaris and trailer down but it won't upload. So here are a couple of pics I took of red today.
