The Apex GT will be in short supply this year as dealers are only getting a limited number of them. HOWEVER, you can take any Apex model and add the electronic shock. The sleds are all pre-wired on all Apex models, so you simply plug it in. The computer on the sled will read the shock is plugged in and activate the dash and hand warmer control. So. other than the paint scheme, you can have an Apex GT wannabe.

Hard to believe there would be a limited supply of something (sleds) Yamaha is trying to get more of in the marketplace. Took me a while but I do know the story about Santa. JMO

I'm having a hard time seeing the value with being able to change the shock setting with the hand warmer toogle. When I can reach down and do it on the side of the tunnel with 2 fingers ;)! ;)!

Talked with two dealers today and they both said that all Apex GT orders that were pre seasoned would be filled, but the dealers themselves would only be allowed 1 or 2 for themselves to sell after the pre season.

That doesnt mean they will be in short supply. Anyone who orders one in the spring will be able to get one.
Its just smart on Yamaha's part. Build what you know you can sell and then build a little more so the dealers have something to put on the showroom floor.
Remember the lesson that we learned from Polaris in the later '90s? They built, and built and bult and that winter we got almost no snow. There the sleds sat outside of the dealership for years, still in the crates.
Yamaha is being smart by not overbuilding. That way their dealers wont get stuck with a ton of leftover models.

Furthermore, its not like you are changing it every 5 miles and need the convenience.

Talk to all the guys with cable and dial difficulties with the 05, running boards not a good location due to snow/ice and open to damage. IMHO

You guys are missing the point. I for one am not ordering the GT because the ease of adjusting the rear shock rather the fact that it's an Ohlin ;)! The front shocks are the real easy ones to adjust. No more spanner wrench for the one type of shock or an air pump for the fox :ORC

Yeh, I remember hearing a rumor in '01 when Yamaha releasd the Viper that there was going to be a shortage, BS. You can still buy leftover '02 Vipers.
