Oil change issue

I bought the filter tool that is the serivce manuel. Works like a charm, I use to fight it and had all the same problems as you guys described. Amazing what proper tools will do to make a job easier. Just FYI

We just changed oil and filter in an 07 last night. The oil was black and I don't think the filter had ever been taking off. Has 1900 miles on it. I used a large screwdriver and hammered it into the filter and it broke free pretty easy. I hand tightened the new one on. There isn't really a way to get a tool on there to loosen or tighten it up. No room at all. The 2014 Phazer XTX is next.

I removed the factory installed filter with a small chain wrench. It was tight, but I managed it. I've been using a K and N filter ever since. I replace it every season.

Never had problems changing the oil filter. Just finger tight it. It won't leak and you can loosen it the next year easily. I've bought and use filters with a bolt head.
