changed the oil for the first time, on the 03 shorty. Due to injuries and family couldn't put alot of miles on last year. First off I would like to meet the little guy across the ocean that put the oil filter on, wow!! Second, did anyone find the bolt (allen) on the engine drain plug stripped? Why in gods name did they make that for a allen wrench? Seems to me if you are under the sled there is not alot of room or leverage for a allen wrench.

I'll agree with ya on the filter. Them japs almost welded the damn thing in there. As far as the allen screw, You have to make sure you use a metric allen key. I sometimes get mixed up with standard and metric with allen heads and I stripped a few in my day.

just buy a allen socket, Im sure you can buy a cheap craftsman. You can get a lot more torque with a wrachet wrench. Do you know what size it is?
I havent changed my oil yet .2 miles...
think snow

Guys, for the oil change, a car floor jack come in handy. Jack one side up and remove the allen plug and drain the oil.

Oh by the way, I'm part oriental and the oil change still pisses me off. Even I'd like to get a piece of Chins #*$&@.

My plug was stripped before I even put the allen wrench in, needed vice grips to get it off, got a new one from the dealer and every thing was fine. I thing the little bastard accross the lake figured if I got the oil filter off, he would still get the last laugh with the plug!!! Wouldn't that plug be much more affective as a hex bolt though?
