Does anybody know if the oil filter is going to be above the hatch like on the Rage/Vector. Or are we going to have to remove the air box and battery/box. I hope its above the hatch.

I "THINK" it may have a trap door like the vector... Look very carefully at photos on some of the ads.. Hmmmmmmmm Looks like my vector trap door under there......... :ORC MM. P.S. The filter will be on the front half of the motor.. But the secret trap door looks like it's up there with it...MM.

There is a trap door on the 03 RX-1, but it opens to a crankcase drain plug.

From looking at the oil filter at the shows last winter it looks like you can get to the oil filter very easy. We should be able to get to the filter from the front were the old 2 can storage box use to be. I asked the Yamaha rep there but he was not sure if it was going to change or if it was possible to get it out that way. It sure looked like it would be easyer to me.

Don't think you'd be able to get it out that way. Maybe, but you wouldn't be able to see or clean up the oil mess that spills out.

Is the relocating filter kit a worthwhile investment? Are there any other components that need to be inspected in the general area that the original filter location is mounted? ( if so it would seem that it would be better to leave it where it is.) Finally, if the oil filter relocating kit is installed, does the oil run at a cooler temperature? I would think it would have a better chance of cooling located off of the engine base.
