My dealer told me I probably shouldn't use filters not spec'ed for the phazer. He said they have different flow rates, which I think dubious, because I've cut many a filter apart, and they are all pretty much the same. Some flow in a reverse direction but they never had valves or radically different flow control orifices. Sharkattak, what cars is that filter for and have you noticed longer cold crank times? Do the flow holes look like a different size?

I believe the filter cross references to a few yamaha street bikes. Just a hunch.

yamaha makes a great product, not sure who makes there filters for them, but i got over 2,000 mi. on my attak with k&n oil filter and have never had a problem, i just like k&n products, they are superb and the flow rate shouldn't be a problem, plus on the phazer's the filter is tough to get to and k&n has a 17mm nut welded to the top for easy removal

well, did my first oil change, not too bad, around 1 1/2 hour to do the job, took me an hour to look for the rubber gromet that holds the shroud over the headlight, dropped it in the bottom somewhere, never found it.i used channel locks for the filter with no problem, hope the new filter is tight enough, hard to get a good grip at the end of fingers.all in all, pretty easy job, just lots of parts to take off

nice, this is why i used the k&n 147, it has that 17mm nut on top, the wrench fits perfect so the next time it will go even smoother

oil change

Two questions, I figure synthetic oil is the preferred type but what weight? The manual calls for 0w-30? Also having a hard time even locating the oil filter, any suggestions? This rookie sledder appreciates the guidance..
