If the Yamaha dealer sold you this filter for the Apex then have a talk with the manager. Im sure Yamaha Canada already has seeing as you phoned them already and tell him your concerns.

Went to the dealer and got the 5GH filter.The manager told me that they have used both filters on the Apex.I told him Yamaha Canada said the 3FV is not a subistute filter for the Apex.His face turned red and that was the end of our conversation.They must figure because it's the same size then they can use it.I never told yamaha Canada who the dealer was.I still have to buy my parts there.Anyway this type of mistake can happen anywhere.You just have to make sure you know what you need for your toys.I had a ford dealership put the wrong filter and the wrong oil in my van last year.Good thing I looked over the invoice before I left.Got three free oil changes coupons from them But have never been back.Do all my own oil changes now.
