I was reading an old post about oil pressure gauges, and what is reccomended. Someone asked about where to tap in for the oil pressure reading, but there was never a reply for it. Has anyone here installed an oil pressure gauge, and if so, where did you plumb in the sending unit? I would think it would be pertty straightforward to just tee off where the existing sending unit for the light is mounted, but I haven't actually seen the location so I don't know if it would work. Also, which gauge did you use? I found nice digital water temp and oil pressure gauges from Summit Racing, which should eliminate any problems caused by vibration and cold weather. www. summitracing.com oil pressure part number SUM-G2985 and water temp. part number SUM-G2984. I know the digital gauges aren't what a racer would want for simple clarity, but I think they would work well as a backup for the existing lights and at least give you a better idea exactly what the readings are.

The oil light you speak of is only an oil level sensor located in the remote oil sump. Im gonna install a pressure guage soon and will prolly drill tap and tee off of the bolt that holds the oil cooler/warmer on it is located beside the oil filter.
The guage I plan to use is a autometer #2179 1.5 inch mecanical guage and im going to put it where the key switch was as I have moved the switch to the left side. From what i understand the engine makes 7 psi at 1400 rpm and as high as 60 psi at wot. hopefully the 0-70 psi guage will work. Ill post results after it has been acomplished. Oh and i want to install a mini pro lite with a 7 lb psi switch so the light comes on when no oil psi is present.
