Happens to the best of us. I am hardly a reckless driver but 2 seasons ago I almost smoked a guy we were riding with - who decided to stop on the trail to talk to another oncoming sled blocking the entire path. Snow dust in the air like you described, no break lights and 60 mph closure. By the time I realized they were stopped , and tried to pump my brakes and locking it up, it wasn't stopping. Funny part was, that sled skidded bone straight as I was on/off the brakes. Thank god we were in an open area and I swung the sled off the trail crashing through the snow and and blasting through saplings. Thank god we were in an open meadow and not a forest
The funny part is - I was the bad guy in this situation. It never really sank in with that guy what he had done.
Ever since I am always aware of where I am on the trail before I slow down to stop. Lots of hand flapping now. Lol
