I have headers coming to replace my broken, stainless, one. They are Ti and the seller told me that Ti has been known to fail (melt) in rear mount applications. I'm running 12psi boost. The sled has an mpi tunnel and the headers were not supported. I'm going to add supports and have cleared where the pipe had been interfereing with the tunnel. I'm hoping that is what led t the failure. If there is an issue, I can swap the ti ones out with stainless ones on my other sled. Just don't want to dig into my running sled if I don't have to. Plus, the turbo feels a little porky and could use the weight savings.

Well the melting point of T304 stainless is 2600 degrees and the melting point of Ti is about 3000 degrees but that is pure titanium and I'm almost sure yamaha used a alloy in thier header and it would be lower then steel. That said I don't think it would melt a hole in it but I bet it would fatigue and warp.

with your supports your thinking of adding it might be worth a shot.

Yes, the Ti has been known to warp on ocassion. I put on 1000 miles on my apex mcx at 15lbs of boost and no problems, maybe i got lucky. Alot of people switched to SS headers because they were alittle thicker and held up to the heat from what i am told. I wouldnt hesitate to use the TI, just keep an eye on them.

Apex with rear mount MCX turbo kit have been known to crack the TI headers. Happened to my friends '06 Apex, running 14 lbs of boost.
