How are the trails and lakes looking in OF? Here in Western NY we have mud, mud, and more mud after hitting a record high 63 degrees yesterday. Hope it freezes soon!

You will have a blast. Once the lakes freeze up there it is a great time. Other than Rt 28, you can ride all of the roads in the villages and towns. They do not salt them...only light sand. If they get any snow at all the weekend we are there, it will be as sweet as can be.
The snow will hold up. February 9th all of the lakes will be frozen.
...Bars...in Old Forge??? Yep, lots of 'em. My Favorites include but are not limited to Slickers, Daikers, Kirsty's Red Dog, Big Moose Inn, Glenmore, Stillwater Inn and let's not forget Tote's Tea House
Trail conditions are always weather dependant but they had such a good start that I think they will hold up through this warm up.
For easy access to night life stay in Old Forge or Thendara. If you like to get away, stay up toward Big Moose, Stillwater or up that way. If conditions are good (and I expect they will be), it will be a really sweet weekend.

I just left there on Monday. The roads were opening up but the trails should be great as soon as it gets cold again. All the lakes had about 6 to 10 inches of ice on them. Once it gets cold all the slush should freeze up and be golden. If all else fails we can move the shootout to Fourth lake between Eagle Bay and Inlet then round up at Kirsty's or the Tavern (shorter trail ride). Either way this gala event will take place.
