Are these out of the box sleds? Not broken in?

Apparently the Polaris faithful have been using that as an excuse, so this year, ALL SLEDS WERE BROKEN IN , prior to the shoot-out.
I,m really amazed that so many sledders take the shoot-out results as gospel. We,ve watched the shoot-out live for many years, and every sled run has so many variables, that these results mean absolutely nothing, except being able to tease your buddies.
Pick whatever sled works best for you, and enjoy it.

I thought box stock was just that out of the crate, dyno run then race run. not out of break in yet. then they do the real world shootout in January with sleds that have been ridden and broken in.

I dont want to upset anyone, just something I noticed. I understand your point about it and we here will try our best to welcome any brand. Welcome to this great site.Yup you busted me.....so whatdaya going do with this info now that you've learned it......shun me because I spoke the truth and I ride a ski-doo........well pardon me for wanting to come in under the wire.....and from a fellow Mainer no less............This to me looks like someone stirring the pot and exactly the type of reception I was referring to.........
We and I need to work on the attitude toward guys coming from other brands for sure. I know in real life if you have trouble everyone here would stop and help no matter the brand. Here . It's more guarded. Us mods deal with it all the time. A lot goes on privately. We love our Yamahas but definitely need to look closely at other brands. Anyone who contributes help, info, pics etc must especially be treated well no matter what brand they are on. Welcome to the site!I am doing my part this year. Got me a Cat and membership to local MX track! SteveThanks for understanding.....I just see this and how I became the topic I really don't know............
I first came on here looking for info on the SW because a buddy (JT) who was on dooTalk bought one, and I was very interested, and everyone I ride with now rides a 4stroke Yamaha......I'm old, not well, and am looking to buy one last sled to take me to the end of my journey but that sled HAS to be fast and can also be made faster with few out of pocket expense.....
My first few posts I called a few things "crap" and I didn't get well received.......I felt because I had an XP 800 listed as my sled that had something to do with it.......so I changed it to a Yamaha and immediately won some people over......then when more info came on the SW I changed it to that because at that point I was sold on that sled and knew I wanted one.........then the shootout results where revealed and people started congratulating me on the new sled (because I believe at that point it became validated) so I came clean.......I've pretty much been ski-doo since moto-ski left the scene.......and I know most will find this hard to believe but I could careless on what brand a person rides as long as it gives them enjoyment........I know some will find this hard to believe like I said but I don't lie, and my word is all I have so it has to be good........I knew when I type this lie on what sled I had someway, somehow it would come back to bite me in the #*$&@......I didn't know how....but just knew it would.........and here it is biting me.....
I want nothing more than to make some friends over here as I have on dooTalk and become well respected.......I can honestly say I had no positive responses from anyone except people who already knew me UNTIL I changed my sled to the SW.......I'm not looking for trouble.....I just wanted to get a non-bias opinion and feedback from people I didn't know....so I thought if I gave us all one common denominator (yamaha) we could build the rest.....I still hope thats true......
Ed

Broken in you say? That's impressive! I don't take these shootouts as the gospel, but a lot of others do. It's good to see a more even playing field. I personally thought the 2-smokes were gonna take this event at this distance. Again it doesn't mean much to me, but to the naive colorblind guys that have been using this shootout as bragging rights for years, they will now be tucking their tails between their legs. Maybe we'll have some silence & respect in the bars at night...

I have to say from what I have witnessed, a stock cat 1100 will be left behind by a stock SW. The cat will need a 200 hp tune to run with it. Take a look over on HCS as they have a run just like this and they are dead even. I think if they had run the quarter mile like in the past the top speed would have been close to 105 or 106 as they had 330 feet to hit it and they were at least on snow this year. The thing I like about the SW is that there is no dead spot in the clutching like the cat sleds had from the compression clutching. The SW runs right to top end cleanly and smoothly and if traction is adequate will go to top end and hold it quite well as seen by many already. They are geared to run 125 with od and that is damn good for a stock sled. Tuned up it will still run the same speed but get there that much faster. A stock 1100 cat would have trouble with a poo and doo 850 for the reasons above. Don't get me wrong, I still love my zuk but I call it as i see it and the SW is just a better machine in many ways. The issues with the old turbo were the chaincase and torque sensing link and the new sled has taken care of this as the rest of the cat chassis is stout and a damn good handling sled. If anyone got a ride on the 2016 limited sleds with the QS3 shocks would tell you they are fantastic handling and riding machines. I had to replace jackshaft, bearings, gears, chain and go to a torsional setup to get mine right along with bracing to get the belt problem fixed. I had to go with Ohlin shocks on the rear and custom valved exits(similar to QS3 valving with stock springs) to get it to handle and ride right. Lots of investment that I can get from a stock SW without the extra jing. Just gotta convince the wife and I may be on a new one this year of not late in the year on a holdover or a lightly used one. For those that bought, Have fun with all of the options to make it even faster!!

Im also wondering if there will be any leftovers around March? Im thinking if these are all "good to go" and this winter seems like its gonna be a good one for snow, there just may not be any leftovers around!
I love my 1200 but its never gonna be in turbo territory as the new mods I did, put it only into 800 territory...And BRP will likely not be giving us a turbo.
Just gotta meet me a new rich girlfriend! haha
