You can only get the 05 RX-1 in blue now? If you want to get any other colors you have to have an ER... Why would they do this? Not only that but the black and yellow is gone...

I saw what you are talking about, but I think it is just a web site issue. Go to the RX-1 page and then click on build your own sled. In there you can choose colors, and none of them are ER models.

I do have a question though. Why would you buy an RX-1 WITHOUT reverse? What does it add, 5 pounds to the sled?

QCRider that build your own sled is for 03's... Still hasn't been updated. Look at the seat and suspension you can tell its not an 05. All the 05 lists is in blue... Also reverse adds more than 5 pounds. The ER is like 25 pounds heavier? Too much for me.

I don't need reverse and I'm 34, maybe when I get older. What are you going to do with reverse anyway? Tricks? Stunts?

What about that blue. I think they are trying to wear it out. Thats Yamaha's way of selling you the more expensive sled. Typical marketing trick.

Yamahnator - The reverse kit adds approx 6 pounds. And the weight difference between RX-1 and RX-1 ER is about the same according to shop manuals. I have added reverse to my '03 RX-1. You only add a few more sprockets, a new chaincase cover, some gear leverage and a beeper to your sled. I love having a reverse, never have to lift the sled anymore, just back off and turn. Happy sledding for those who still got snow. :D

Why was the 04 ER listed as 580ish and the 04 plain RX-1 listed as 557 then?

Like Impala power said I don't have any problem with muscling it and I don't want the extra weight.

The entire chaincase (with oil and reverse), driveshaft, jackshaft, and secondary clutch together don't weigh 25 pounds.

Guys, trust me, you want reverse on the RX-1 or Warrior. The sled doesn't feel that heavy on the trails, but you will notice it when you pick up the rear end to turn it around on the trails or at a gas station. LB and RXRider are right in that it only adds a little bit of weight.

Again LB why was the ER listed around 580's and the regular RX listed as 557? I'm not aware of anything else different on the ER fromt he regular other than reverse and maybe wider running boards?

Suisse I have no problem with my 04 RX-1 and it doesn't have reverse... I really don't want it if it's going to add extra weight.

As I recall my Warrior was "listed" at 580 ish not the ER.

I thought the ER was "listed" low to mid 560's

The "real" weight when I picked up my '03 shortie with 6gal. fuel, and all other fluids full was 640lb.

I suspect that with the updates from the last two seasons that it should be much closer to 600 for '05, and that's not too bad at all if you ask me. I know it won't be 600, but maybe 610 or so, still not too bad. 6 gallons of fuel, 1 gallon of oil and maybe a gallon of coolant will come to 60 pounds or so, that would make the dry weight in the 550-560 vacinity.

And the extra 6 pounds of the reverse in 560 is a penalty I will gladly pay everytime I unload it from a trailer, park it in a garage, fuel it up at a gas station, or whatever else.

I rode my sled the first year with no reverse, as it was not avail. w/Black sled. Then reverse was on B/O for the whole winter. I installed it this year, wouldn't be without it if I had a choice. 8)
