This one was a dooooozy. Dropped it off at the dealer this morning, so will see what happens. I am sure according to Yamaha, it will be "the first they've ever heard of the W arm (front pivot arm)breaking". And yes, I have the 5 year Y.E.S, good until November 2011.

So far, looks like the W arm (front pivot arm) cacked completely through on the upper and lower shafts. Upper looks to be right by the weld towards the left side and lower looks to be by the weld for the ear for the transfer/control rod, on the left side also.

Right side slide rail looks tweaked (the top of it is going towards the center of the suspension). Left side slide rail appears to also have developed a hairline crack by the bolt hole where the rear arm mounts to, doesnt looked tweaked on that side though.

Track has wear marks along the inside center of the track, what appears to be the entire length of the track. Maybe replaced? Useable?

Oh yeah, coolant is leaking front both sides by the top mount for the rear arm (by the drop down brackets). So maybe it also took out one or both heat exchangers under the running boards when the suspesion gave way.

Dealer claims it should be a problem covering everything under YES, but we will see.

they should cover it the same exact same thing happen to my brotherlaws sled they cover it all it was like 1500.00

Mmmmm, monos are the best...... not!

Anyways, that crack on the left rail is typical for the attak, I had it and several other members did and its exactly the same as you, pictire perfect. Its a garbage design so I made some stainless brackets = no more cracks.

Secondly, that coolant is most likely from tiny cracks in the heat exchangers forming by simple flexing of the running boards, seen it many times here on ty.

My right rail is tweaked like yours is, my front bogey wheel looks bent up, and while I had my skid out, you could see that the whole rail was S shaped, you might want to check. Get everything you can replaced!

Is that the real weak point of the mono is just that arm?

Asisde from bogies, rub eliminators, and some stuff I consider fairly minor the big one is just that arm?

I just a mono in my 06 GT and looking forward to riding it although I know it wont hold a candle to the Zx2, I just need money to pay for the new one so the ZX2 must go.

All the fabricators on this site and no one has reinforced the arm so it will hold?

Here is a link to the w arm I strengthened at the begining of the season. It has almost 5000 miles on it since I installed it under every kind of condition. Looks like it will last the distance!!!

The shock valving has alot to do with suspension arms holding up. I have 10450mi on my original arms and has not broken them off yet. I did reweld all the joints on the arm when I got the sled because the shitty undercut weld that yamaha does causes cracks.

My 07 Attak Gt looks just like yours"broken W arm, cracked rails" except my transfer rod is broken at the eyelet. No dripping antifreeze sooo I got that going for me which is nice. :o|4,000 miles

Holy crap that's a lot of damage!!!! Mine broke at 10,700 miles and only broke a piece on the rail that was replaced for $96.00. I got the upgraded one from Yamaha and it looks a lot stronger. Hope they cover it all!!!

Steve, I told you everytime you jumped that road(over 30 feet in the air) that sooner or later you would break your suspension. I"m going to call up your dealer and tell him the real story as to why your suspension is toast.

BBW is right. 25 feet in the air is the limit.
Mine's welded, and so far so good...but it's coming out in a few weeks to get sandblasted and looked for cracks. With revalving, the mono rides, hooks and handles great...to me it's worth reinforcing, revalving and making better...jmo...

Cooom on guys. 25-30 is RIDICULOUS!! Now you are all talkin crazy! It was no more than 15 and a half feet of air.

BBW, actually if it is not covered under warranty (which I am pretty sure it should be), then I am going to send the bill to whoever is SUPPOSED TO BE grooming Number 9 Rd going out of Highmarket into Tabolts Corners. Cause I am sure riding back and forth over that crappy trail all season did not nelp. So dont go callin anyone, or else you get the ball peen hammer to your good dialing fingers!!

Oh Honk, let's not call them a "stealer" just yet. After they dont want to cover it...doifferent story. And besides..I got some Yamaha connections so will get it covered under YES...come hell or high water.

I already showed the Service Mgr from the dealer where I have the sled pics of the new, updated, beefier W arm that Yamaha has been putting in the Mono for the last 2 years. Geeeeeeeee, wonder why they ever went and started doing that??

All the bad/busted parts are a result of a bad chain reaction starting with the W arm breaking. AT least that is my thinking and why YES should cover everything.

My first W arm looks just like that. Thing is I was doing about 70 when it let go and it stabbed the track, tore it completely in half and sent me over the bars. At least I had an excuse to rplace that POS ripsaw. :die

Interestingly enough, although I ordered the OEM part from Yamaha to the tune of 300 bones, the one they sent me looked nothing like the original. #$%&*
