Need a new lower A arm! Hit a stump and put a nice bow in her! Still rides like a champ, have 230 miles with it bent from this weekend. Just doesn't make a very good conversation starter on the FX! Anyone have price ? Think my warranty would cover a new one? lol Thanks

Does it bend the frame/bulkhead or tunnel at all like the nun on the rev's? Just curious.
nope, didn't do any other damage other then bend the A arm. Very good design from Yamaha. It just buckles in.

I sheered off the inner lower arm bolt. Bent both arms, and frame flange. Didnt bent frame bad at all. I was able to straighten out every part very carefully in a vice with a come-along tied to a fork truck. Soulds stupid but it worked very well. I removed the entire right and left suspension to compare the parts. Oh yea, I even bent the shock. Fixed it also. 265 miles since repairs and no leaks to shock. I did have to adjust steering linkage after reassemble but not much at all. The reason I didnt buy new is because I ride in the tight powdery woods and it is inevitable I will hit a tree sooner or later. If I was to buy new parts everytime I broke something I would not be able to afford this sport. If you bend it, bend it back. If you don't stress it to bad it will hold up. "lets make some junk boys"

I wish I could have fixed mine... had the thing red hot... but it bent at the weld, pipes were still straight.... any hotter and
it would have been molten steel... part came in today... can't wait to fix it and ride again.

The a arms are aluminum. I didnt even heat them. I put alot of pressure on them by pulling with the come-along and than would tug by hand to get that extra tweek to what I wanted. It took 2 of us to be able to do it. I tell you what, Those a arms are very lite and stronger than I would of ever imagined. That is why it sheered off the through bolt clean and bent the flange on the tube front frame material. I suppose I should have taken a pic of my before and after pics for reference.

Wife did the same thing to FX this past Weekend
Lenny,
Same parts and condition now exist on my sons FX with 160 miles on it thanks to my wife running it into a tree. The estimate is $2362.34. Wife is going to pay the deductable.

Backordered Parts
Believe it or not I still don't have a fixed FX. The dealer is missing the shock and the front frame assembly. The shock was never backordered until last month and the front frame was back ordered until 5/15/07.
The dealer was notified that both parts are backordered indefinitely and that I have to pick up the sled and bring it back in October when the parts will be available. The two party insurance check is at the dealers waiting to be signed - usually when picking up the repaired sled.
I still feel the frame assembly could easily be repaired without replacement. The item alone had 11 labor hours associated with it. I'm thinking about picking up the parts from the dealer, reapiring the frame assembly, taking the shock to Goodwin down the road from me and repairing the sled myself.
Any advice?

If your dealer has a new one of the floor, tell him you'll take the parts off that one.. being as the season is over, its not going anywhere...

Finally completed
Well Yamaha put the front frame on the indefinite backorder status. So I worked out a deal with the dealer who fixed the front frame beautifully and did the rest of the parts change out.
Very happy, can't asy enough for a dealer that will work with you and help out. Dealer loyality is worth something even if it's a few $ more on a new sled.
