Opinions on 1.25 tracks please

The only thing about a challenger that is discontinued is the name.

Camoplast just changed all the names and put tracks into catagories. Hi-performance, trail, mountain, touring, cross country, racing and utility. Most of them are the same just a name change, with a few new ones thrown in like the Ripsaw.

I have a 9833 thats held up to about 2000 turbo charged miles with no signs of wear. Excellent straight line acceleration, with more oversteer in the corners than the finger track 8)

I would recommend the 9833. I have the 136" version (9834) and it is better than the ripsaw in terms of toughness and traction. I have seen ripsaws with lugs missing. Just look at the rubber density and the way the lugs join the track body, you'll see what I mean. Unless you ride a lot of really icy trails, the hookup with the 1.25" will be close to a studded track. 196 studs weigh a bit too.

Right, so why did mine rip apart? And I'm not just talking about the explosion that ended its life... it fell apart in the first 100 miles but I ran it for 2000.

Also... third window closed... holds more snow in, at the expense of also holding more snow OUT. Personally, I don't give a rats as* about that point, I've had both and don't feel that there's any appreciable difference.

Cast my vote w/Lazy Bastard; the closed window on trails here in the East is not a good idea. I have a Warrior. I believe it has had an effect on the post we have seen about hyfax wear. Most trails here are groomed and those of us that actually LIKE to ride when it is below 15F find that not much snow gets in. The height of the lugs I believe keeps the track from getting adequate cooling form the snow since it sits above it in most cases. (Again, groomed trails) I have always studded just because it also tends to be icy here and I don't think you could run the ripsaw w/o studs in the conditions here - SAFELY.
Mine has lots of signs of wear on the tips of the lugs and I am sure it is because of the almost constant presence of the HUGE ice chunk that forms directly above the last 10" of track in the tunnel. Every bump that track is rubbing that chunk - making the track hot and abrading the lugs. I have had an AWFUL growling just before a HUGE chunk comes out. We stopped to examine it one day and it was truly the size of a small baby!
