I'm still scratching my head on the spitting ice in 20° temps. But yes, definitely next time bud.Doc i went out the day before you got here and spent some time tuning clutches.
Got it working pretty good!
It was ready just in case you wanted to burn that carbon out of your sled!
Next time your in the area look me up and I'll get out on the trails with ya.
I was plenty happy enough to take that initial ride, after making changes, at a slower pace. Got home stripped it all down, and other than a couple missing bolts the ride was a complete success.

You mean this one that's covered in ice. Switched up one hour after I got there.Tall windshield works.
You can see the ice on the windscreen. It was a horrible nightmare. Lol. I literally stopped every couple miles, just to scrape it off my helmet.

Electric heated shield on helmet or no?
I have one and when I've had to endure riding in snizzle, freezing rain, etc it keeps my visor clear. Wouldn't leave home without it.

This is the type of freezing rain that happens once every 5-10yrs. A heated shield is no match. (Yes, I use one)Electric heated shield on helmet or no?

Not one person walked into the watering hole with a clear face shield. Lol.
I'd be like, "bud, you ok??" Haha...let the bitching commence.

EVERY winter in the U.P.!! Weather does not say its raining/drizzling, but it does. Its from that big lake just north of where you were riding. I Usually have this happen one trip a year for sure. Without a heated shield you cant ride at all. Seen it when a heated shield does not keep up. Faster you go the faster it freezes! Sidewinders don't help this scenario at all. This is the type of freezing rain that happens once every 5-10yrs. A heated shield is no match. (Yes, I use one)

Jon, I was on "Helmet watch" as I hear the infamous CKX (Mission) heated Helmet cannot ice up. Lol. I never laughed so hard.EVERY winter in the U.P.!! I picked up a Mission helmet this year but did not get the heated shield. I was concerned with just fogging and everyone says they don't fog, even when wearing glasses. As for freezing drizzle/rain, I have tried a handful of electric shields and I have yet to find on that works very well at all. I literally hate the cord flopping around too, they always find a way to get tangled and quit working.Jon, I was on "Helmet watch" as I hear the infamous CKX (Mission) heated Helmet cannot ice up. I have had a Mission with a heated shield for a few seasons now . If the freezing precip is light the shield will keep clear better then any other helmet I have owned, but as the freezing precip gets more severe nothing can keep up.

I think they kinda one up'd the oxygen helmet.I picked up a Mission helmet this year but did not get the heated shield. Some people think these heated Shields are designed to clear ice. Lol.
They're just meant to help with fog. In my opinion based on everything I've read, you probably don't need a heater with that particular helmet. The mouth area seems to be completely cut off & vented out from the rest of the helmet. I've had my eye on it. Beautiful piece. Due to cost, I try to find ways to tell myself I don't need it.
I'm so brainwashed into needing a heated shield that I've been running with them since the 90s. As a matter of fact I can't remember even fogging up since the '90s?!?!
The freezing rain sticks to everything like glue immediately.
Understand your valid point in the complication of the additional cable.

I have always used a heated shield as I don't install the breath guards but there is no doubt the cord is a pain. I have my Tread GPS mounted on my handle bars and the cord occasional flops on to it and changes the display page. On my Mission helmet I don't use the breath guard as I don't like them and it also makes mounting the microphone for my Sena 50s a problem.

I just bought a new set of earbuds with voice command. And if you shake your head up and down or nod back and forth it will either answer a phone or not.
Can't wait to give that a try. Lol

So you removed the rubber breath guard on the Mission and it still works great? I was going to remove mine this year to try it to see what the results would be.I have always used a heated shield as I don't install the breath guards but there is no doubt the cord is a pain. Well, mid January, I have maybe 1.5" of snow on the ground. Had -7F this AM and a warmup coming later this week with a couple of days above freezing. No snow or snow storms on the Horizon in the forecast either. Not looking good, hope February looks better or it will be another shutout like last season. This was supposed to be an above average, (colder and snowier) winter with La Niña. So far its been a bust for us in southern MN. Very disturbing to have a 2023 machine I've only put 60 miles on, not sure I can keep the faith much longer if this keeps up. Sounds like the UP is getting trafficked heavily and not much fun to ride depending on where you are at. I think only the lake effect zones are getting hit and still sketchy on snow conditions, I don't have the ambition to trailer and go ride anymore like I did in my earlier years. In other words, I seem to be running out of hope & steam to ride snowmobiles....
I may have to move to Canada for any hopes to stay in this sport. Would they even take us old retired farts? Yep, I even just retired hoping to take advantage of the La Niña snow season, well that and spend more time with family and the grandkids and doing the things I love. LOL!
