Hey guys im looking to get a vent kit for my xtx to try and get my sled to run a little cooler. Looking for any suggestions and experience from those that have installed a vent kit. Did it help to reduce the heat under hood at all?
Thanks
Thanks

I don't have any way to measure under hood temps but with the amount of heat that escapes from my panel vent, it has to help!

I drilled out my IP panel last year and was pretty surprised at the amount of heat that escapes out of there. This year I have added the XXX Mod Rods vents (all 8). I should have no problems with heat at all.

Vent each side panel behind the front shocks.
Cools clutch and belt on left and cools oil tank on right.
The vent that made the most impact were a hole on each side right behind the radiator.
I pulled the tuning fork emblems off and used a hole saw perfect spot.
Had a temp gauge and watched as I added each vent.
Trapped air behind the rad needs to flow.
Doo acc catalog has New hexagon shape vents look kinda nice.
1-3/4" hole saw required.

I have the modrods side panel vents and when I did my OFT relocate I opened up the hole where there steering post goes through. Heat pours out all vents/openings when stopped! I might be a lucky one but my high temp light never comes on......
Can see the side vents in the pic, I have a vent in front of my clutch also. Tough cutting up the panels but it works well

vents
Here is what I run.
The panels/hood were purchased used from a fellow TY member but I believe they are a BR Racing hood and vent kit.
I also drilled several 1/2 holes in the instrument panel plastic and covered the back with pre filter material.
It made a huge difference both in cooling down the sled and warming me up as I ride.
I also have done the same thing to the plastics behind the shocks to help push the hot air out of the engine cavity.
The headlight cover hides a light bar that is in place of the stock headlight.

Wow those are some awesome looking sleds! Sounds like the modrod vents are pretty slick, definitely gonna check them out along with the hole saw trick!

On my last build I used the BR tech for a more futuristic look. This time I went sleek with the mod panels like the others said. Also used a OFT dash vent
I'd you use the mod ones they come with bigger rivets. If you go with standard rivets of any type I suggest backing them with some thin sst washers on the inside for a better grip when then gun tightens up. Otherwise they can pull through the hole. Also aluminum rivets will save your forearms lol

The Mod Rods vent kits come with aluminum backer washers, at least the newer kits do. I just got done installing the full set on my sled. They are quite nice pieces, all clutch side vents have an extra fine mesh behind the normal mesh to prevent snow from getting in. The upper panel vents are a bit of a pain to get to lay flat, but some time and patience with a heat gun will get them to mold quite well.
