So I have a conversation with a major shock rebuilding company, one of which I won’t name as I’m not sure they want to be. Anyway they tell me that the thousands of dollar shock package I got on my Nytro RTX S.E. is basically a throw-away, with the exception of the Fox Float X’s, let me explain. I cannot find any parts for these shocks anywhere, rings, seals, etc. So I call them up and ask, what’s the deal? The response is basically, well, Yamaha won’t release parts so, basically I (he) rebuild them hoping that the seals are still good and will last. He stated that this is explained to all the customers before hand as to eliminate any confusion. My question is, is this the case with Hygear, and or Pioneer? I know I sent my Mono RA to Hygear, I’m wondering if they replaced any of the seals. Same goes for Pioneer, are they just rebuilding/revalving them with the stock internals. I know many on here have blown out their shock/s, which tells me that the seals needed to be replaced. I just can’t imagine no one can get the seals, rings for these things. If my only option is to either send them out or send them in for warrantee I guess I’ll be replacing them once they are blown. I refuse to be locked in to this monopoly; it’s a shock, not a secret military weapon. I think we can all agree that the valving they use isn’t exactly the greatest so what’s with the top secret crap! Any info is appreciated.

I just had Bob at Shock Therapy(just north of you in Vernon, north of Durand) revalve my SQI shocks on my XTX skid. He mentioned to me when I dropped them off that he didnt know of anyone else that had parts for them and that other rebuilders(also remain un-named) where trying to get him to sell his to them. Id give him a call if your in need of a rebuild.

When i send my mono shock KYB to hygear they found the seal was shot and they put the worn seal in plastic bag with the shock when send it to me.

Yeah the KYB's I think you can use a Fox, or HPG seal kit as the shocks are nearly the same. Although, I'm not sure what would be the same for a mono as it's really a single purpose shock. At any rate it seems the Soqi shocks are the ones that you can't get parts for. I guess my problem is that we started to rebuild our shocks on our own, I was very interested in adjusting the valving and doing several trials. Without having spare seals and whatnot it becomes a bit more concerning as I don't want to find the sweatspot only to have it blowout and have to sent it out, or not be able to get parts. I used Shock Theropy the first time I got my Mono done, he was fine I just would like to do it myself.

If you can't have the part on Soqi than sale them and buy a set of ohlins or float. my 02 cent

LJ 452-

Congrats on the decision to wade in on your own! It's certainly been an education for me. After some early stumbles, have found being able to work on my own gratifying to say the least!

Not much on "secrets" myself. In fact, I'm sick of the smoke and mirrors.....

Have you explored finding the seals you're after using dimensions rather than part numbers?
