Hey guys,

I need more traction and probly floatation for the deep snow. I was thinking at first to go 136 and trim a cobra with gold digger studs, but it may crave to much power for the engine to produce. Its also quite the job that i'm not sure if its worth the time, I may start saving for a nytro or apex next year. With that in the back of my head, I was thinking a 121 freeride with grand master studs, you guys think this will be enough? Also I have a gt which is 20/41 gearing...

Thanks for all opinions!

very worth it man.

i just did my 136 conversion last spring & just got to ride it this year.
so far, this thing is just what i wanted & more.

i too have a gt, (same gearing for now, 20/41), ulmer clutching, secondary spring in b2 i think, & run a polaris 1.75" lug track.
doesn't hit the rev limiter much at all @ WOT. it's not a "dog" off the line. it's all in the clutching, which i haven't done alot of but like the way it is.

i'm going to try a different top gear & see what that is like since i don't care about top end speed.

I think your best bet would be new skis unless you have some already and go with the 121 freeride for cost imo. or new skis and 136. But the skis make a huge difference.

I got a pair of powder hounds and they float so well that the pull my stock rear end up out of the snow. I also have a flotation plate though. I think the freeride will give you enough traction that the studs wont be necessary from what i have read on here.

forgot to add, the only thing that takes the longest is cutting the track down.
the rest is just remove/install skid, remove/install new track, & just taking off the chaincase cover to slide the driveshaft out.

not saying the nytro or apex is a bad choice, but i think you'll like the 136, plus save a few $$$.

136.............. IF you can find one, they quit making the 136 and 144" freerides last year. If your talking a 136" cobra cut down then I would probibly do that over a 121" freeride if you have a table saw and a buddy to trim the track. Go 17 tooth top gear on a 136 or 18 tooth on the 121 freeride.

I agree if going off trail alot I would definitely go 136.For on trail freeride 121 I honestly do not need studs.

i loved my 136x1.75 phazer...im thinkin i might ditch the apex MTN and build another phzr. it had 17tooth top gear and ulmer kit plus i changed secondary spring setting...it was a great sled i shoulda never sold...

Bad winter to not have studs Cannondale. It's the ice that makes it almost a necessity in Wisconsin, and this year is a bad one!
