hei all!
i got this phazer fx 2007 with a mcx turbo, and about a month ago it started to burn oil, black smoke coming to the muffler, and oil in the intercooler pipes, i have checked the oil return hoses and nothing is blocking em, and i thought the turbo was gone.
i sent it in to mcx in sweden (i live in norway) and the rebuilt it, changing the whole centerpiece. got it back and still smokes and its only under idle and around 1700 to 2500 rpm. when i rev the engine to around 3500 rpm the smoke stops, i mean its smoking like hell at 1700-2500 rpm, like the sled cought on fire! any1 knows what the deal is?
the motor has run around 500 km with the turbo on.
and its hardcore to start when its cold :S

Check your oil tank breather hose make sure you're not back pressuring the tank. (ie. oil suspended in the line or breather plugged). the line needs to breath freely.

i just ripped the sled apart, and i noticed the oilreturn hose had been cut in two and extended with a aluminium tube (this was done by the previous owner) and made the hose go like upwards where the hose "disapears" inside the sled. i had shitloads of oil inside the intercooler, it was pooring out when i took of the hoses. :S
i did this test, i (sorry for my crappy english) made the backside of the sled stick up in the air, so the turbo was much much higher than the engine, and that way the smoke stoped. so i guess its the "homemade" oilreturn hose that does the #*$&@?
btw, the oil return hose. when i take it of the turbo should i be able to breath throug the hose? i tryed it and couldnt get much air in, and with allot of preasuer i hear a "ssshsshssshsss" sound. its coming from the engine, the small hose from the toppcover, should it go more air through the motor or am i just stupid xD
will try to replace the oilreturn hose with a brand new1 from mcx.

Have you checked the return oil pump? The small pin connecting the pump with the crank was broken on my RX. Producing lot´s of smoke and oil in the intercooler!

how should the comp be? got 3 original headgaskets installed atm.
and i dont think its the motor, since it only has 5000 km on it, and around 500km with the turbo.
and it dosnt lack any power at all, got like 160 km/h with original gearing and its up there in 5-7 secs.

now it burns oil all the time, havent gotten my new oilreturn hose yet.
and the breather hoses arent clogged or anything.
when i turn the engine off, i hear the turbo does its last spins and then a sound like you pooring soda of a bottle, cloug cloug cloug sound. guess its the oil in the returnhose. sounds correct? guess thats the problem, the oil isnt getting back in the motor fast enough.
seriously need some help, wasted 30 hours on this problem now

got my answer today. motor is gone, detonated.
for all u phazer turbo owners out there.
the small hoses that go around from the blowoff valve into the mcx efibox, and in to the pulseabsorber and in the throttlebody, can get water inn it, when u drive in deep snow. and it will freeze the next day. this can be easily noticed by starting the enginge and chech if the barometer shows turbo boost, if not these hoses have been clogged with ice.¨
if u drive with the hoses clogged, u will get wrong detonation. the mcx efibox dosnt register that the turbo is giving preasure and dosnt give the right fuel mixture.
reason im writing this cuz i am new to this and guess there are more ppl like me out there with troubles. or just doing some research
ty for all replies and help ive gotten here. and again sorry for my english.
getting new cylc and pistons next week yey! and now i know what to look after and learned the hard way ;p
