to change the color you need to change the whole headlight assembly. rtx's have yellow and most other models have blue.

that will change the color of the beam, but the lenses are whats really colored and noticeable when the sled is off.

Thanks for the info, you didnt happen to notice the stock wattage did you?
As far as H4 bulbs go Im told these are the choices:
55/60
55/100
80/100
90/130
Not really keen on upgrading the wiring to take a brighter bulb. Are our bulbs the standard 55/60?
Im thinking I would like to try a 80/100 H4 Silverstar.

Nevermind, found it:
Headlight Watts, Type 60/55W Halogen X 2
on the Yamaha webpage.
Wonder if any upgrade in Wattage would be an issue, what do you guys think?

Upgrade in wattage increases the draw on the wiring,
the wiring is proper sizing for the stock wattage.
By increasing the draw on the wiring, there is increased resistance, resistance causes heat, heat causes fires.
I've seen a friend burn his car up(the wiring) pretty bad
cause he was running a 100w bulb setup in the headlights.

If you go with a 55/60 silverstar your going to have all the light you need and not tax the system anymore than it already is. These lights give you 50% more light than what you are running now. Which is not that bad even with the stock bulbs. Yes they are H4's.

I have been running the Silverstars in my current sled for 3 years now. They are pricey but very bright for the wattage. Big improvement over stock bulbs.

O.k. so how has your upgraded bulbs work out for you guys? The reason I ask is that my FX is pretty much useless at night time with the stock bulbs in there. My wife's Nytro is unbelievable. On just the low beams they are good but when you put her high beams on they light up everything on the trail where as my FX lights up the sky and trees which is pretty much useless. I was going to try and adjust the angle of the headlights but also try a different bulb. Also has anyone noticed that it seems the front windshield is actually reflecting the light?
Just wondering how you guys like the upgraded bulbs or if anyone else is having a problem with night time riding.

Yes, I noticed the windshield reflects light back for sure, but I never did actually change my bulbs yet.
Stock ones are brighter then any of the sleds I ride with so I didnt see a need. (Mine is the only 07).

I adjusted mine. Were way to high stock.Parked even with my truck and turned lights on both low beam shining against garage door.Made Phazers lights match hieght of trucks.Problem solved Much much better on low or high.Windshield does reflect light and high beam indicator is too bright at night.Black magic marker on indicator solved glare problem. Was thinking of painting about a inch up on windshield around headlight.
