Okay so I need some help here. I've got an 08 Phazer RTX that I've had for two years and have not been completely satisfied with. By now I'm looking for something with more power and that doesn't have a mind of its own in the trails. It's just too tippy and doesn't corner well. So I am up in the air on what to do for the upcoming winter. I found a great deal on an 02 Viper with a 136" and risers and a boss seat and alot more upgrades with 3000 miles for $3000. I've ridden my friends viper and loved the power and feel, but I think it might be to much to give up the phazer for with like the reverse and four-stroke engine and suspension. Something like a newer vector would be perfect, but I can't spend anything over around 5000. So I guess my question is, would I be better off long-tracking the phazer and putting new shocks and skis on it, or going with that viper and selling the phazer? Thanks

08 Nytros should be getting fairly close to $5000 now, or by the start of next winter. Especially if you find one with higher miles (not a big deal IMO). I paid under 6 for mine back in February. Some people will say that if you're looking for good handling, then the Nytros aren't what you want, but I've had no issues with mine. Corners just fine once you get used to riding it and get the suspension dialed in.

An RS sled would give you plenty of power, and the RS chassis sits lower (less tippy) but when I had my 05 Vector, I didn't think it cornered well just because it was a lot of weight to throw around. Wasn't bad, it just wasn't super fast in the tight and twisties. The suspension, power, and everything else on that sled was top notch, though, and they can be had for under $5000.

I think the viper would be a step back, but I can see where sticking with the Phazer maybe won't do the trick for you. You can probably get all the handling you want, but kind of tough to get the power out of that motor. If it were me, I'd look for an 06 Apex/Attak, or an 05 or 06 RS Vector/Rage/Nytro with higher miles so the price is down a bit.
