Why did yamaha make the Phazer tunnel/bumper stick out so far out the back?? To me it always looked weird, and that's because it IS. What was the thought process here? Is it a wheelie-bar LOL? Cause its an 80hp sled. Looks? Like more of a dirtbike look?

Dunno. Always bothered me. Compared to any other sled it sticks way out.

I agree that it looks cheap and it does not help the look of the Phazer.

The GYTR rear bumper looks the best to my taste but seems week from what I read. Skinz make one that look good and I am sure that it must be solid. Those two options look much better than the tubes and help the look of the sled. But it is not still like the other sled.

I have a 144 skid and track, and whenever I get around to it I won't be extending the tunnel. Maybe the bumper just a bit, so it's easy to grab onto standing behind the sled.

I've seen guys do a 136 w/0 any modification to the bumper or tunnel and it looks great! Like it was always supposed to look like that.

Gives it that beefy long track look :bling

I wouldn’t mind something different on mine but I will say when stuck there’s a lot to grab onto and easier to lift standing straighter than crouched over.

Aha! Maybe you just figured out the real reason LOL

I got stuck other day. 2-3’ of packed wind blown fresh stuff. On trail. Ran into a few ditch witches and one almost put me in the real deep ditch. All bull rushes so for sure I woulda sunk outa sight. Early season riding I stopped rather than save myself with a hard turn right lean left with wot. :o|
Nice thin about these Phazers. Heavy yes. But pack down beside track. Lift onto pack. Pack some more beside and lift on. Maybe one/two more times and ur back on traction to lightly throttle out.

What do you guys use to post pics here now.
I have been uploading media. Can't seem to insert an image with google photos. Which is odd, it should work with a shareable (public) folder and copying the link address.

Photobucket app just keeps closing on me. Images to big on my phone. It used to resize for ya

cannot do without an extension on the tunnel for 144" i have a pic up on here with the 144 mtx/xtx skid and track going into a 09 phazer rtx. i bought the gytr mtx bumper and they mislabled a short one. rear axle was past the flap mount and i did not have suspension in the right place yet.

You can if you are from Saskatchewan! Hahahaha! But thanks for the pic that will help me with making a decision on how far to extend.

Duponts. Well worth the money!! Eaaaaasy 10k on mine with 144. Going to do a post when I change them.

Edit. Found when I changed last. Feb 2016 6k on my second set

It's almost as if Yamaha was going to put a 151" or 153" in the MTX and at the last second decided on a 144" Both 151 and 153 clear the flap with some room to spare! I hate how it get hung up on snowbanks, I've bent the snowflap mount a few times on mine........... also hits the ground backing it down the ramp off my trailer.............. and drags the ground if I launch hard! (it WILL out run my Viper to 50mph on hard pack, the Freeride hooks SO MUCH better than the Cobra)

I couldn't have said it better. And yes super quick to 50mph!

Ive read that either a 151 skid setback, or 151 from 144 with extensions BOTH work great!
