Just got a 2008 Phazer GT this season, and am having a problem of the reverse engaging when the dashboard button is pressed. I have to lift up on the rear skid, in order for the reverse to couple, and then once again for it to engage back into the forward state. I know a lot has been written on this forum about the issue, but as far as the washer update is concerned, from Yamaha, where should I look for, to see if this update has in fact been done. Thanks in advance.

Look for the newer belt. Part number starts with GK. The original one starts with GS.
One thing you can check is the chain tension adjustment. I found it helped if it was on the loose side. Adjust it to just when you feel it contacting the chain and back off 1/4 turn.
My MP has been a real biatch lately since I changed to the newer belt. I didn't add a shim since it was too low in the sheaves. In fact, I removed one to bring it up to where is should be. I might go back to an old belt to see if that helps.

Usually a quick little "hop" while standing gets mine to go. Loose chain works good too.

Try turning key on with the throttle cracked and then release throttle and start. It's been working on the wife's.
