It will be interesting to see what Yami does next year to solve this problem. It will probably be a solution engineered on TY.
It's hard to believe this sled went through several years of R&D test riding. Boy am I glad I decided to wait a year, I was an 03 RX1 test mule. Probably wouldn't have if it had been 120hp.

New here, guys, thanks for letting me chime in...
Reading with earnest about the icing problems on the Phazers, hopefully Yamaha will do something about it for next year.
Gypsy...you in Bethel? Transplant?
Yellowknife...did you ever pick up your Phazer yet?

I think the hole will be covered next year. Im thinking of doing that to my FX soon, Just going to talk to my dealer first. I heard that the plastic around the exhaust gets soft but dosent melt when you cover the hole.

EsonPZ- I think you may have the best idea for the snow build up and ice issue. Using some of that heat shield cloth on the under side of the plastic and to cover most of the tunnel would keep the heat from melting the snow and plastic and your #*$&@. May be a solution

Dump the exhaust up front like traditional sleds ? Less weight with a shorter exhaust system(?) No hole and no icing !

I'm picking it up in 90 minutes...bone stock.
If it overheats from normal use and simple blockage of the rad, and if the rear end turns into a 200 pound ice box, Yamahnator can explain how it's not a problem and simply preference.

Where are you?
I'm in Nome. Been here since 1957. But quite honestly, I'd rather be in Rio right now, snow or no snow!

I wish you good luck with it. I have read many of your posts over on the Doo site with your older 600's and your newer 8, so look forward to the same unbiased reviews here on your new Phazer. Your climate is much like mine, though we get less snow and somewhat milder temps.
Your riding reviews will be a big insight to everyone who camps here. I am looking hard at a 4s for next year, so post away. I buy sleds based on real reviews, not from the magazines. Thanks!
BTW, I have 3 Polaris' and a Firecat in my garage currently.

Actually I pointed out to you where I thought you were making assumptions based on little to no first hand knowledge after you pm'd me and asked me not to make any more posts... You weren't decent enough to even make a response. If I happen to disagree with you then I'm the bad guy apparently. Time to grow up a little.

Just continue to show your true colors Yamahnator, and I won't need to say anything to get my point across.

4stroke exhausts must be certain lengths for certain power traits. Longer usually means more top end. And to those who bicker on these posts- LAME!
Covered the hole onmy FX today. But i wont be able to try it until Dec 27th.
No snow left here, has been raining for 4 weeks now

we had a customer come in the shop today and say that due to the ice build up the rear plastics have melted because the ice pulls them closer to the pipe when riding, somethings gotta be done.
