those look great, hopefully they work good, keep us posted, how much were they, are they a bear to put on?

I got a pretty good price through Port Yamaha. And yes, the long steel rivets we're nasty to pull. If I had to do it all over, I'd probably opt to use fasteners that would allow for their removal.
I'm happy with the look and outcome, however.

jon, let me know if it take the curse off the snow build up, do they come pre-drilled, would it be better to use stainless steel bolts?

The panels come predrilled, but the tunnel and seat frame must be drilled. You could easily use stainless steel hardware, but on the seat frame bracket, you'd have to drill completely through to the other side to slip a nut on the bolt. This is instead of using the blind rivet.

Sorry for no pics guys but when riding on the tug hill today I saw 2 phazers with ice and snow buildup. They did 40 miles. I rode 65 miles and not any snow and ice buildup on mine with my custom guards. One phazer had the yamaha guards and had some ice built up.

I rode 30 miles today in powdery conditions, and had no
build up to speak of. some snow back there, but not much.
on a mtn lite.

I definitely like the black...I'd like to make sure they work before buying them...trying to get the dealer here to give them to me for free because I think this is a design flaw, especially on a mountain sled. Are those black panels painted and do you think the paint will chip?True Blue said:Looks good and there is no reason they won't work.

The question I have is why does ALL the pictures on the Yamaha website show NO hole in the tunnel on the mountain lite?

I'd love to hear more and see more picture of the problem and fix's people come up with.
I want to go pick one up, but something is telling me to wait a year to see what Yamaha changes next year. I have always told myself to never buy first year models, but I want to SOOOOOO bad.

Is the skid plate at risk of popping off with ice accumulation do you think?

It looks more like the ice between the plate and frame will destroy the steering boots long before the skid plate comes off.

How did the testing go JP? Do the CFR board racks work well?

Went well.. it wasn't a powder day so I couldn't get a read on the snow/ice build up on the rack. I melted my cargo net! Gonna have to find an exhaust solution before I carry anything back there. CFR rack is bomber, the board and my friends skis/poles were secured very well. Just need a MCX exhaust or something before you can run any gear back there.
