I now see why this is one of the hottest topics on the phazer forum. rode mine 70 miles today. mostly off trail. I will order my gaurds tomorrow. they have to help. If I didn't have gore-tex bibs on My legs would have been soaked. on the + side the mtn lite is one kick @$$ machine.
I agree with ecopter as I could only install one side of the panels as my grip was getting too weak. After a good nights rest the other side was installed and now all I need is some SNOW!!!

JP I wouldn't put that gas can, or anything else you don't want to melt or catch fire behind the exhuast.

yeah, the exhaust is hot... that gas can isn't going to fair well back there...

i hear ya.. i'm not really planning to bring the gas can unless the test period works out. think about it, the rear stock tunnel box is made out of the same material as the gas can..heavy plastic. the box is a little thicker but closer to the exhaust and that doesn't melt or anything??

The storage box sits very low so most of the exhaust heat is directed over it. Anything in line with the exhaust even further away will get toasted. The exhaust is much hotter than you think when you are pulling 11000 rpm on a long pull. Also keep in mind that these things will shoot a couple feet of flame if they backfire. Just be careful and test things out.

The MCX turbo will fix both luggage heat problems and lack of power

Wonder if anyone have tested out the panels from yamaha and if so did they work?
I can live with the snow but not with the water dripping from exhaust and spreading all over the tunnel making my pants wet..
Unbelivable that yamaha sent something like this out on the marked. Hope that they do something with this because except from this I really like this sled.
Also a little bit worried about the ice building up inside tunnel. Last time I rode it a BIG chunk of ice slipped and ended between driveshaft and cooler. I have low speed so I reversed if out. It must have weight 4kg aprox 8lb. If this have happened in 60-70mph I think it would have been bye bye to both cooler and driveshaft.
