Im a mechanical engineering student at st. cloud state university and for my senior project i am building a formula car and we are using a 2010 Phazer engine (not sure on the year though, but it is a 2007 or newer), it is a 500cc four stroke. we are having trouble timing it and i was wondering if anyone has any experience in timing these engines. we have lined up the timing marks on the A.C. magneto with the engine crank mark. when we try and line up the marks on the cam shaft gears it seems like we are fighting the value springs. if anyone has any tips or tricks to get this engine timed it would by much appreciated. Thanks for the help!

make sure that the cam lobes are pointing out toward the head not in I timed mine wrong and bent some valves.

All of the lobs are now in time, we think the engine is in time. does anyone know if i need a stoke phazer gauge cluster to run the engine?
