On my 05 RX-1 every year, when I take it out of storage the pilot jets are plugged. This is getting old. This year I had STA-BIL in the gas and it still did it.
What is the best fix so I dont need to take off the carbs every year.
Thanks....
Gary.

I don't know of one Gary, i cleaned mine installed worked good but i had engine trouble, fix engine install carbs that were cleaned but had 6 mins on them and I think they are plugged again! I'm off to the garage to pull them and clean AGAIN.

I was wondering if there is a fuel filter that would filter down to that level of particle, course the filtering area would have to be double or tripple to get the same flow through it but seriously I hate these fricking pilot jets.

I try to drain all the gas from the tank and carbs at the end of the season in all my toys (sleds, bikes, tractors, mowers, etc...). I used Sta-bil in the RX-1 this past summer and no problems yet but after this year I will probably drain it.

Dealer swears by Yamaha Fuel Conditioner. They have been testing it for a three years in multiple sleds. All carbs have looked brand new in the fall after doing nothing in the fall other than adding the conditioner. They still check the carbs but do not have to clean them.

Where did you store it? What kind of floor, roofing, venting etc. Environment can be a big factor in this.

You guys might consider the Fitch Fuel Catalyst as an alternative. I put them in my 03 RX-1 when it was brand new and have NEVER done anything other than start it every so often during storage. Never had to clean carbs; never had bad gas; no problems at all. SnowTech, Snow Goer and others all use them. AND they've come down in price since I bought them previously. I just bought some for my Nytro and some of the other guys around here had me order a bunch for them too.

I removed the internal carb screens and put in the fitch catalyst. Also went to a bigger pilot jet(22?) with the K+Ns.Five seasons with zero problems.

Fill your tank with racing fuel at the end of the season and run it until the carbs are full of it---storage problem solved.

I agree, drain them and then don't worry about them untill next season. Especially if you have any gas in them that has alcohol in it. Alcohol attracts moisture and acids can form.

I park mine every year with varrying amounts of fuel and forget about it till snow flies the next year and have never had a problem, But i also run seafoam in every tank of gas to. Same with my Grizzly

I store my sled in a nice dry garage about 24" off the floor.
I like the fix that 'rxwarrior' came up with, I will try that this summer. If that dont work for me I will try one of the other ideas from you guys.
Thanks for all the advice...
Gary.

This might sound kind of dumb since I'm not a chemist, But doesn't racing fuel get stale after a while? If it doesn't, than doesn't the higher octain make the machine run a little rough since their made to run at their best on 87 octain?

bullet69, racing fuel stays fresh for around 3-4 years vs 2-3 months for regular fuel. suggestion would be to put in 1/2 gallon or so and run it till you know the carbs and everything at full of it and then park it, thought is it wont varnish up the carbs like reg gas would. In the fall add 9.5 gallons of regular and go, no harm no foul.
