Recently picked up a new 2025 Sidewinder LTX LE EPS sled. Although I will likely wait until after the 500 mile break-in period to actually do a tune, I would like some feedback from you guys on your tunes. I also have a 2017 LTX SE that has a TD PowerTrail PM tune with CAI & 3" Super Quiet muffler. I really like that tune and it has been working flawlessly for me but I might want to stick with a stock muffler tune for the 2025. In addition, my brother-in-law has the TD PowerTrail SM 250 tune with stock muffer and stock intake. We run pretty close to the same and trail conditions from one side of the trail to the other usually determines the winner of a pull from 20mph to around 100mph.
Anyway, I have also been doing some reading on the Hurricane 240SS SM tune as well as the PEFI Stage 2 250hp tune. Both of those will cost more in the end than the TD PowerTrail SM tune since the Hurricane tune needs a 3-bar MAP sensor and the PEFI tune requires their muffler. I do know of a few that have had engine issues with PEFI tunes but those were mostly the Stage 3 tunes. I don't think I have heard of any with the Stage 2 tune.
I guess I am looking for any input/experience you can offer as far as how those 3 tunes would run against each other and what to expect that would be different between them. This is the list of options:
TD PowerTrail SM
Hurricane 240SS SM
PEFI Stage 2 250 (with their muffler)
I have read that the Hurricane 240SS tune builds boost very quickly and may even spike to over 17psi during spool-up but then settles to around 14psi. The TD PowerTrail SM tune will spike into the low-mid 15psi range and settle in the high 14's based on what my brother-in-law told me. I have no idea about the PEFI Stage 2.
Can anyone tell me how the Hurricane 240SS SM tune compares to the TD PowerTrail SM tune? Which one is quicker and/or faster?
Which tune would you choose and why?

I don't think you can go wrong with any of those tunes.

I realize that am I am likely going to chose either TD PowerTrail SM or Hurricane 240SS SM but wanted to hear some first hand experience/opinions. I have experience with TD PowerTrail but have read good things about the Hurricane 240SS SM (or the 225/240/270 SS bundle) and would consider that one as well.I don't think you can go wrong with any of those tunes.
I have pretty well all Hurricane tunes and accessories on my Header Tuned SW and I am 110% satisfied with Hurricane and Dave's customer care even helping me with issues unrelated to his products. . I would definitely stick with Hurricane[for me] or TD as they both use the Gap flasher and features that offer closed loop, data logging ect.
I think it comes down to your trail system. I know I'm going to get flack, but here goes.... Hurricane more bottem end grunt corner to corner and TD more power from 90 mph. Hey it's all just rumors, just my .0002 cents! Lol

I went with the hurricane 225.
I didn't want to mess with clutching but just wanted a little extra.
When running with my dooski 850 friends I get better fuel economy and I can easily dust them any time I want.
Over 8,100mi, 6,000 with the tune, and it runs like a top.

I think Max Spool 16 SM is more equal to the Hurricane 240 SS tune.

I am not concerned with beating any 2-stroke. That will be a given for any 240+ tune. If anything, I'd like to be quicker than my brother-in-law's TD Powertrail SM. I don't really care about top speed. I like to be "quick" but don't really care about being "fast"I went with the hurricane 225.

Hurricane its all about costomer service. Dave has been great. Not going to knock td or precision since I haven't dealt with there tunes. I have bought precision's belly pan protector and I did have precision's 2.5 exhaust at first when I had just 240 tune.. Quality and welds are great. I ended up going with hurrricane 2.5 when i went with the bundle tune. I believe with precision one has to send ecu in and with hurricane and td you can just get the flasher to set up tune.

Any PEFI hardware item will be best there is (al either at higher cost). Sébastien is a really smart guy when it comes to tunes. He teaches advanced fuel injection. It seems the way he designs his tunes, he handles timing and boost differently than TD or Hurricane. Don't know how Hurricane and TD do it but if/when you decide you'd like to move up to a bigger tune, at PEFI you only pay the difference between what you have and what you're going to.

Then you just need better traction than your bro-in-law.I am not concerned with beating any 2-stroke. That will be a given for any 240+ tune. buy once cry once. Get the hurrican bundle and sensor.
You may not think you will move up but the cost is so insignificant in the long run.

I currently have the cluster flash tune from Hurricane on my 18. Started out with the stand alone 240 SS SM tune then added closed loop and felt I need to see AFR's so I upgraded to the bundle flash of tunes. Mostly run just the 240, never ran the 225 ever and only ran 270 a couple of times just to see what 270 felt like. Like you I will tune the 2025 and it will be the 240 SS SM stand-alone tune, it's super reliable. Not sure the closed loop is worth the cost as I didn't see that much difference in fuel economy with or without it.

Do you ever find that the 240SS tune has too much "snap" to be able to get on it coming out of a corner? I ran into this with my MPI turbo Viper. It would build boost so fast that I couldn't get on the throttle in the corner or I would lose too much ski pressure and push through the corner. That can happen in some conditions with the TD Power Trail PM tune on my 17 but not nearly as easily (I also likely have the suspension dialed in better).I currently have the cluster flash tune from Hurricane on my 18. Started out with the stand alone 240 SS SM tune then added closed loop and felt I need to see AFR's so I upgraded to the bundle flash of tunes. Sometimes the hardest part of controlling these is controlling your thumb! No lie. It just keeps getting more difficult the higher the tune. If you're not careful you end up reacting to the throttle instead of acting with it.
