Recently picked up a new 2025 Sidewinder LTX LE EPS sled. Although I will likely wait until after the 500 mile break-in period to actually do a tune, I would like some feedback from you guys on your tunes. I also have a 2017 LTX SE that has a TD PowerTrail PM tune with CAI & 3" Super Quiet muffler. I really like that tune and it has been working flawlessly for me but I might want to stick with a stock muffler tune for the 2025. In addition, my brother-in-law has the TD PowerTrail SM 250 tune with stock muffer and stock intake. We run pretty close to the same and trail conditions from one side of the trail to the other usually determines the winner of a pull from 20mph to around 100mph.
Anyway, I have also been doing some reading on the Hurricane 240SS SM tune as well as the PEFI Stage 2 250hp tune. Both of those will cost more in the end than the TD PowerTrail SM tune since the Hurricane tune needs a 3-bar MAP sensor and the PEFI tune requires their muffler. I do know of a few that have had engine issues with PEFI tunes but those were mostly the Stage 3 tunes. I don't think I have heard of any with the Stage 2 tune.
I guess I am looking for any input/experience you can offer as far as how those 3 tunes would run against each other and what to expect that would be different between them. This is the list of options:
TD PowerTrail SM
Hurricane 240SS SM
PEFI Stage 2 250 (with their muffler)
I have read that the Hurricane 240SS tune builds boost very quickly and may even spike to over 17psi during spool-up but then settles to around 14psi. The TD PowerTrail SM tune will spike into the low-mid 15psi range and settle in the high 14's based on what my brother-in-law told me. I have no idea about the PEFI Stage 2.
Can anyone tell me how the Hurricane 240SS SM tune compares to the TD PowerTrail SM tune? Which one is quicker and/or faster?
Which tune would you choose and why?
