Approach angle plays a huge roll in this in my opinion. I think it basically preheats the hi-fax and clips, from there the twenty other factors come in. Weight, weight over skid, transfer, wheels, conditions. I've all but eliminated hi-fax wear on the MTX but it took adding four wheels, and scratchers. Problem is, most aggressive trail riders can't really use scratchers. I have t really looked into whether or not the Z1 and Z1T have the same issue, those sleds are heavier than some of the Yamaha's so if t was strictly weight it should show up there as well. Cat uses a very flat approach angle on most sleds, I believe Doo and Poo do as well.

I know that going from a Predator track with some closed windows to a fully clipped and open IceRipper resulted in sliders wearing down in 300 miles vs 1200 before. There are lots of factors but it is puzzling why Yamaha seems worse overall. Is the curve of the rail the same on all brands?

I have an apples to apples comparison for you all.
My brother replaced his track on his '06 Attak with a fully clipped (all open) track. Same lug and everything. He now wears out slides like crazy. It's obvious to me the different track is to blame. All other factors are the same..

With all the info on TY, I'm shocked people still have problems with the slides, I have 1,800 miles on mine and they look new still.
