i see more & more people are going with the ice ripper, would like to know some results with people with some seat time, how are they on the ice? is traction good at high speeds? which is better 1" or the 1.25", pro's & con's on the track?

I have two 1.25 ice rippers, one on 05 vector 2500 miles, one on 07 attak 1800 miles....

both tracks in excellent shape, performance is as expected... much better braking control and performance, increased traction as well, but not the same as traditional studs. If your looking for a track that lets you not worry about studs being thrown, adn you want a little better performance, this is it...

braking is great... but if you really want the bite on acceleration you may want to use traditional studs. Im not the lake racer kind of guy and the tracks perform as i want... the attak still spins quite a bit with the ripper....

I'm a lake racer type and LOVE the new Iceripper XT sharp stud technology. Top speed is increased over 144 standard studs by 5 MPH average. No chance of throwing studs thru heat exchanger. It won't quite hook up as well as standard studs but makes up for it in the increased speeds. XT sharp stud technology is a huge improvement over the original iceripper. I now have 700 miles on mine and love how easy it rolls with the full lightweight clip design that holds the snow and ice very nicely. This concept really seems to work well thus far for me. I used the 1.25 lug iceripper because of past 1" hacksaw experience that wouldn't hook on the trail for my use. I could not be happier and will never stud another track again with these tracks available, in fact I'm pulling a studded track out to put one of these in my wife's sled too. Just do not expect drag race type traction. They are more speed run or trail type hookup.

that is really good to hear that the ice ripper technology is working out and that they are improving them, my next track will be the ice ripper for sure, i figured if i wanted my sled to be a true ice racer then i have to take the next step and turbo it, i would rather have a better trail machine for now

The Iceripper XT is 15 X 137" I believe, is that the one I would want for my Attak. I'd go 1 1/4 inch as well. I just want to make sure the back end doesn't swing around on ice & that I can stop on ice. It is a safety thing for me. Right now I am studded 4X2 up the middle & am thinking that I may switch out to the ICERIPPER just so I don't have to worry about stud damage. Is the XT that much better than the original ICERIPPER?

it he ice ripper the same track as the ripsaw(except for the studs) or is it a more durable compound?

That track is a 2.86 pitch track and will not work with your stock track drivers. You need a 2.52 pitch track.

i wonder if the camoplast will come out with a ice ripper with even longer studs built in, it a great concept

This year's Ice Ripper has sharpened/pointed studs. I hear that they are even a little bit better.

If you use the Iceripper XT 137" track you do have to use the ski-doo extrovert 2.86 sprockets yes. The XP sharp stud leaves the original iceripper in the dust. Make sure of the pitch of the track so it matches your drivers. I intentionally went to the 2.86" pitch for the longer track on the ground (slightly over 137", almost 138") and because it is the only XT sharp stud available for the attak at the moment. The 136" iceripper is not a XT sharp stud.

This link shows them in my attak.

The Ice Attack is only a 1" track. The Iceripper is 1.25". The 1" just doesn't hook as good on the trail. I know a fella that tried a 1" hacksaw for only one weekend, it came off the next Monday, and the 1.25" ripsaw went right back on. I tried to warn him against it before he did the 1" track to pick up a couple of MPH. They both had around 192 studs on also. The ripsaw design is an excellent trail track.
