If you are planning additional mods and would like the adjustability, then yes.
A timing box works well also.
If you are keeping it stock and don't want to run higher octane gas, then probably not worth the expense.

I was looking at trying to get a bit more out of it but for the cost for only 1/2 hp more may look at another route. If you are planning additional mods and would like the adjustability, then yes.

I don't personally know anyone who did.
Maybe do a search. I'm sure there's some members who did and shared their findings.

I have what is called the 180 hp kit from hurricane. Not sure of what hp it really is.Anyone ever try the hurricane 172hp kit that you know of
With the gearing and airbox mod with shorter intake boots and clutching, I haven't lost to another apex yet. Or it is slightly faster than flashed 900 turbo doo. Or about the same as a stock sidewinder or sometimes beat one, but only ones without a flash.

Not sure what vendor, if any, you were looking at going with but all I know is that the setup I purchased from Ulmer Racing which included an ignition module, Power Commander, primary and secondary clutch kit, and his air box mod has made my 08 Apex LTX GT a night and day sled in regards to performance.
I believe that the 2011 and newer Apexes respond better to airbox mods and a PC5 then the earlier Apexs. The 2011 and up Apexs under achieved and never dynod at their initial advertised hp of @ 163 until doing airbox mods and adding a fuel controller to adjust their lean mapping. I believe an ignition module would help hp as well.
If I had a newer Apex I would definitely consider getting a PC5 ect from a reputable vendor.

I also added a PC5 to my '18 Apex from Ulmer and as well as his clutch kit and air box mod. He stated the newer Apex's did not need the ignition module like my older '08 did.

The timing map that hurricane installed has 6 degrees of advance at 10500. No place else on the map that had as much advance as 10500 @ 100% throttle. Seems like a lot to me, un else the newer apexs are cut back more than the older ones.
