I know through various discussions that many have the Powermadd hand guards. I'm looking at adding a set of the Star series, running the Cat mounts, and then adding the mirror kit. How well do these mirrors actually work how durable are they and are they big enough std or does a guy need the large size units?

I use PowerMadd Mirrors on all my sleds. They are enough to see the headlights that follow you and way better then a hand mirror.

X2!!!
All you need to see a quick glimpse of a headlight, and they work perfect for that.
FWIW, I've got the Powermadd mounts and they're fine.

Agreed! I had them on my Apex. Perfect for seeing if you have someone behind you in the daylight as you only need to see the headlights.

They work for me and they are adjustable with a turn of the hand.

On my Apex I found that they needed to be turned so that the mirrors angled out in order to get the best rear view.

I added the larger Powermadd mirror to Yamaha handguards and it works O.K.........BUT the fiber mounts are pretty flimsy.........I'm trying to figure out some way to reinforce the left one........I have the aluminum mounts too but no where to attach them on an XTX.........when you stop it works just fine but bounces a LOT when you're riding

Those plastic mounts for the Viper are garbage.

X2! The nylon mounts are a joke!
Yamaha does however sell a "heavy duty" aluminum mount for $40 a pair but the picture in the catalog shows that it clamps to the bar instead of mounting to the control housings like the standard nylon mount does.

Actually the handguards I bought from Port Yamaha came with BOTH sets of mounts........I really didn't want to cut the grab bar.......but I'm rethinking that position........

I bought a set of Yamaha hand guards and returned them for three reasons.
1) Flimsy nylon mounts.
2) The black ones that I bought have a "grayish / almost blueish?" colored area around the word Yamaha that does not match anything on my sled.
3) They did not stick out any farther than my standard RTX DX windshield so I thought them to be of no added value.

I use those powermadd mirrors on my Phazer, work well to see headlights, but don't expect a view like the mirrors on your car. Mine rotate to change the angle. Not sure what to do on my Viper. Decided to go to a big windshield and no handguards, I might need to get out my wrist mirror again.

??? With them mirrors mounted on the ends of whatever guards you have how do they hold up with the viper cover over the handle bars and do they clear the stock windshield on a ltx se low windshield?
