I was curious to why the weights bolt and nuts are to be torqued to 4 pounds. Would it matter if I just tighted them up real good? They still have lots of wiggle room. I read somewhere that they should only be hand tight.

I wouldn’t over tighten those bolts. They are flimsy and could break. Don’t forget to blue Loctite them also. There is alot of side play in the roller bolts, flyweights etc. It probably accounts for some of the noise it makes. I just ordered a shim kit from Schmidt brothers performance to see if it will quiet it down a little for 30 bucks. Will report back when I get the chance to put it in.

So when you say don't over tighten bolts I should just tighten them a bit more than hand tight? I would think 4 # can't be much more than that right? I'm looking forward to the results of your shim kit.

I use a 1/4 inch drive ratchet and a small box end on the other side. Just a little pressure. It is probably about 4 #. Don’t forget the blue Loctite.

Thanks for info. I definitely tightened them more than 4# . I had it out today and other than the noisy clutch it seemed ok. I will back the bolts out and turn them around and use blue locktight and only tighten them a little past snug. I just hope they won't snap in the mean time.

I have rode prob 40000kms on modified Yamahas and ive always done them by feel. Definitely way more than 4lbs. Never used blue locktite either, but wouldnt hurt i suppose.

Good to know. I don't need the primary exploding due to broken bolts

Those bolts are small, but they certainly are not flimsy. This isn't to suggest that someone should use a dewalt 20 volt impact to tighten these, but they are high quality, and strong bolts.I wouldn’t over tighten those bolts.
