Proline Kit Update

Mr Sled I don't care to be called a BS'er and get mocked when I have provided informative comments on a product, as a moderator I'm sure you can understand...I don't know how you would know me as I am not from Wisconsin.

Man, one of the reasons I consider clutch kits is the bolt and washer type weight adjustability. I hate to pound in and drill out rivots. Huge disappointment for me :o|

You dont drill the rivets. Grind the face lightly and they come right out and u can push the next one in with your fingers. :D

On the aluminum ones, not so great for your grinding wheels either

I have done it that way too. Huge pain in the arse

slightlystock, you need to report the problem or users end up becoming the problem.

Im running my ulmer kit at 10500 to 10900rpm I think the higher rpms work good on that kit also.iwas running at 10000 to 10500.It feels much faster now with less wieght in the heel of the wieghts.

MrSled: Consider this problem reported.

1chopper, I'd have to agree with you that running revs on high side seems to work quite well. My Proline Kit runs between 10 600 and 10 900 as I posted earlier and pulls very hard.

I just got back from a trip. Put close to 350 miles on my Pro-Line clutched Apex GT. I was very happy with the clutch kit. I only put about 75 miles on stock but the sled seemed to pull much harder with the kit. Could partially have been the sled breaking in as well. I gained about 500 rpm during the first 150 miles of the ride. All kits are going to require a bit of fine tuning. I do think clutch kits should be calibrated to a riders weight before they are sent. There is no way a little fine tuning should not be expected if it is not. 100 lbs difference in riders weight is considerable and will have to be adjusted for. I would prefer the weights with the bolts that screw in/out for weight adjustment but will deal with drilling out and adding a new rivet. I love tuning and working on my sled but think its wonderfull that someone else did the majority of the leg work and I only have to do a bit of fine tuning. Still got much better milage than a 600 and 700 Crossfires and a little worse than a 600 (non SDI) Skidoo but driving styles are much different by me and my wife on the 600. Also rode with a carbed 900 ZR with a SLP single and Lenco reeds (clutched). It was not even a contest. The ZR would pull me bad from any speed up to 100. We never had a chance to run them out farther than that as the warm conditions made it hard to run fast on top end. Those ZR's are quick when piped and clutched properly.

should have bolted in your stock clutching and ran that ZR900..hehe

I was not dissapointed getting beat by the 900. I am probably giving up anywhere from 10-15 HP and close to 80lbs between the sled and rider. The Apex's run well but I am also realistic about how the sled should run. I highly doubt the stock clutching would have been any better.

don't know until you try..you have nothing to compare the results too!!

Your quite the optimistic guy, seems you clearly don't like the kit, so why keep posting on it.

I have another riding partner with a Ulner clutched GT. We will do plenty of comparing as soon as we get some snow or get up north at the same time. This trip was with the wives so we did not spend a lot of time test and tuning.

I am not being optimistic..but how can you give the kit a fair comparo when you haven't tried the stock clutching back to back with it?

Is the KIT pulling hard, until you throw in the stock and try again, you'll never know.
