Driving with the throttle handle facing forward could be dangerous. In almost all forms of snowmobile racing that use ISR rules the use of a forward facing throttle is prohibited. The theory is that the if the rider looses balance and falls backwards they will unintentionally pull the throttle wide open. When standing up a person can position the throttle handle straight down and use two fingers. The wrist would then roll away from the throttle if the driver lost control. However this placement is not very comfortable when sitting down. -PeeWee
