I have been looking at a lot of posts about starter failure.
I did a search for pull start and found someone talking about a how to video.
can some one please link me?

I have a vid form my hot wiring and pull starting my sled, but never posted it.

Take a pull start rope off a junk mower or snowblower. Rap the rope around the primary (counter clockwise) over laping the first and second time to stop the rope from sliding. I pull from the front of the sled but some pull form the top. If you give it three good pulls you can start it on the 3rd time every time, well for me anyways.

I carry a 1" wide nylon strap with me. Someone on here indicated it is easier to wrap on the primary than a rope and it sounds like it would work...I really should try it once to see how it works in a controlled environment instead of on the side of the trail at midnight in a blizzard...

Alot of people tell me how they can't believe there is no recoil on the Phazer. I ask them where the recoil is on their car. :-o

One last thing. If I am (if I am a good boy) supposed to check the oil everytime I ride the sled, why did they use allen key retainers on that side, instead of the tool-less retainers like on the clutch side, where I hardly have to get into?

Just wonderin'

I've wondered the same thing since I got my sled in 2006. It doesn't make much sense. Thats and those stupid twist-lock allens are a pain to line up some times. They should have made both sides like swing out door like the Revs.

They just say that for a disclaimer.Of course it makes sense to check it every ride but once you do it a few times and see no oil used and everything looking good very few including me take that side off.Usually mine gets checked about once every 4 or 5 rides and if there is room in the garage.

I alway thought it was so Joe Blow in the parking lot couldt just open up the panel were all the important stuff is and mess with it.To make sure they cant mess with your oil, rad, battery, and wires and such. Just a thought

Some people tend to forget that, there is an engine decomp system. That what alows for an easy start.

I guess that kind of makes sense. Although, pretty much any other sled can be opened up all the way without tools.

If I need a new battery for my phazer and I'm in the mood for some stealin'*, then I would be smart enough to bring the allen key.

*Disclaimer: I am NOT a thief, lol.

Hey Motoman, hope you don't mind, I posted your video on YouTube since the download in your post was like, 18MB and pretty slow.

Or use the one in the tool kit in the other side that does open :moon:

In all seriousness, it is a good idea to try this at home before it actually needs to be done. If you don't have a rope or strap, most 2 smokes have an emergency pull cord you could borrow.
