Hey guys,
I have been doing some reading on Nitrous and I have a few questions...
Is there a benefit to adding NOS to EFI vs. Carb? If so, What is it?
When you guys speak of nozzles,,,,how many are there...1 per carb or 1 per pair of carbs?
How long does it take to install?
What type of clutching work would you need to do? Is the clutching different than a sled without NOS?

Simich - I will try best to answer your questions.
1) EFI is better, cause you can use either a dry or wet system. (dry system = no fuel added, wet = fuel added (wet is more hpr.)) EFI will componsate with little or too much fuel, where carbs are guesswork.
2) depends on the system. Nitrous Oxide Systems requires 1 nozzle per cylinder, where Holtzman's and other kits use 1 nozzle per system. (carb boot mounting compared to airbox mounting)
3) I have installed a couple of systems within an afternoon, or approx. 4-5 hours. I could do it faster, but don't want to make mistakes.
4) On the average, the nitrous hit will boost the rpm's about 600. That is what I am noticing with 60 horse on mine. I clutch mine to a max of 9,800, and I love it for trail. I keep the same setup from winter to summer asphalt racing.

John, beware of riding with Nos-Pro if he stops and opens his hood. The little grin on his face as he turns the screw on the nos bottle is telling you that you are in trouble.
Seriously, his system looked neat and clean under the hood. He left it off most of the time. But if we had a route that had long stretches or lakes, Nos-Pro would turn the screw in advance and then hit the happy button on the straight aways. Then it was bye bye and we ate his snow dust. Reliability is what impressed me because I don't believe he has suffered any down time associated with his system. I think this has been one of your concerns too.

Thanks for the heads up Terry. I "think" I know enough about Matt to know we have about the same technical skills. I am not into wrenching and I don't like to tinker. Pressing a button for an instant boost sounds like a hoot!

I have a question about reliability for you guys. I'm thinking about adding a NOS kit to my new APEX what is this going to do to the reliability/life of my sled? I'm only looking at hitting the button once or twice a week. Would I have anything to worry about or should I put my money into clutching and other mods? Thanks

Good plan, wont work, but it sounds good.LOL Once you hit the button the first time you will be on it all the time. The bottle will be empty before you know it. N20 is fun, and wont hurt a thing when used correctly. It does become addicting and its just another cost to sledding. Costs around 500-1000.00 for a system, More for extra bottles, and 3-5.00 per pound of N20. ===SRXSRULE===

Haha, your probably right considering I have a half mile cornfield right by my house. I'm not really worried about the price of the system. I just want something that isn't on all the time, like a turbo. Most of my riding is done with my wife so speed is pretty much out of the picture for the most part. I just want a little extra on my sled to set it apart. I know NOS-PRO is big on the Holtzman setup, and I like what I've read, but are there any other kits worth looking into? I'm new to this. I'm coming from a 95 Formula Z 583 so any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Holtzman, Boss Nos (Boss Seats), and Boondockers all make a good system. Go to snowest and do a search for Nitrous and you'll have all you ever wanted to know about Nitrous on a sled. ===SRXSRULE===

YA YOU GOT THAT RIGHT...................Had to send Terry back home with a note saying HE DOESN'T PLAY WELL WITH OTHERS.......THAT NOS HOG
His system was Flawless and perfect till............HE RAN OUT OF NOS........Too Bad For Him...........Great For Us

I used 20 lbs. of nitrous this last season. I was on it almost every trail ride we took. I like it when I can ride a stock machine, flip a switch, and carry the skis till 100mph.
The new system Barry (Holtzman), and I will be working on for the Apex, will allow 2 bottles in the nose of the machine, and maybe 1 in the rear for a "just in case" need for it.
Let me know, and I can guide you thru the whole setup, what should be where, and so on.

Only 20lbs? I use 3 lbs a day but I guess you can stay on the button alot longer in the steep and deep. Two of my buddies have Boss Nos seats so they carry a 4lb'er in the seat and a 3lb'er up front and they still run out by early afternoon. I dont think I will put it on my new sled, got to save my pennies for a super charger. ===SRXSRULE===

From the way the Apex looks, I think we should be able to fit 2 up front, but will definetly try.

I used the Nitrous Express setup for two years and really liked it.It had 4 nozzles and a nitrous controller with a o2 sensor.This year I have installed a front mount turbo,power all the time.

Terry, definitely room to install 2 bottles up front and if you wanna give up your rear storage, definitely room back there too!
