Yamaha came out with a upgrade to replace the single shot rear shock with a better version. Was that upgrade just for the 2017 Apex, or did it also include the 2016 Apex. Thanks for any information.

Update shock will bolt into and improve both years of Apex sleds with Singleshit rear suspension.

I got one out of Yamaha for my 16, but it wasn't that easy. From what I read at the time I got mine, it was easier to get on from Yamaha Canada then it was from Yamaha usa.
My dealer had to call and basically beg for the shock.

I just took my upgraded shock out I had bought due to sag being on the high side and went with Hygear's coil over big boy spring. I wanted to play it safe.. very easy to do. I'm selling it for $350 shipped.
All you do it take the upper shock bolt out first as well as the upper bracket bolts. then the lower shock bolt. Remove shock.. reverse procedure. I did it with sled in the air and skid hanging.

You have to let the air out of the shocks first of course. But even the Hygear Coil over with preload I installed went in without effort.

I really like that skid design. Let us know how you like that Hygear Shock please.

The upgraded shock rode awesome for 200 miles..Kevin at Port said it rode nice with it compared to mono's etc. he was right... In the shop after I added a winch to the back end and some saddle bags to carry tools I need now. And measured the sag again with these installed I got 4 in. so I bought the hygear Rear Coil over with a big boy spring from them.

I rode more then 75 miles over all conditions and it carried me great.. somewhat bouncy but my sag is now 2 3/4.. but with wet snow or lot's of snow build up this should be good. I could always back off the preload.. but I'll see.

The beauty of the Fox Air is you can adjust it on the trail etc. but at the 300lb limit I got near 4 in of sag.. which is at the end of it's usefulness. Didn't want to chance blowing it or bottom out. I always had to have a big boy spring so this makes sense .

What winch did you add? And how is it powered? Thanks.

In short I fabricated a duplicate of a Warn Sno-Winch. Google it and you'll see videos, etc of it. But made it with a Warn ProVantage 3500lb .. I owned the Sno Winch and loved it.. but wanted a larger one just in case it warranted it. Being these Attaks,Vectors are heavy. The sno winch saved my butt out there with no one around to help.

On a side note I installed a 20 series extra capacity battery to help it.
